“You Hindus are criminals,” Muslim Awami League MP flings communal slurs at fellow politician from the party

While Awami League is known to be tolerant of religious minorities in Bangladesh, the continuous attacks on the Hindus by the frantic mobs of Islamists have shaken our faith in the Haseena administration. Besides, a parliamentarian of the Awami League has exposed his bigotry and Hindu hate openly and as in some recent cases, against Hindu leaders of the party.

Reportedly, Awami League MP, Md Ayeenuddin has been threatening fellow politician from his political party, Suranjit Sarkar of not allowing him to contest for the position of Union Chairman in the upcoming elections of Rajshahi UP which are to be held on November 28. Moreover, Ayeenuddin had allegedly called up Sarkar and hurled faith-based slurs at him. This abject bigotry has led to major unrest in the area, particularly among religious minorities. The minority community, after getting wind of this insult has demanded that strict action be taken against the Awami League MP.

We understand that Md Ayeenuddin had contested and won the MP seat from Rajshahi – 3 and has brought severe objections to Suranjeet Sarkar’s candidacy for the position of Union Chairman from that area though Sarkar has been selected as the candidate by leaders of the Awami League itself.

Reports further state the Muslim MP has been threatening Sarkar in various ways to push him to withdraw his candidacy for the elections. But when Sarkar didn’t agree to concede to Uddin’s intimidations, he resorted to communal insults aimed at Sarkar and his Hindu identity.

Sarkar, who is a popular leader of Awami League, played the recording of the alleged telephonic exchange between him and Ayeen Uddin at a press conference. This resulted in massive unrest across the country which is still healing from the anti-Hindu riots orchestrated during the Durga Pujas. People have started to demand that Ayeen Uddin be removed from his position.

Social media users have also taken to various online platforms to voice out their dissent against the Muslim MP and his bigotry. Though Awami League asserts to be a secular and non-communal political party, that Sheikh Hasina has not taken any action against MP Ayeen Uddin for the deliberate insults made at Sarkar for being a Hindu has been observed by people who have now been questioning the Bangladeshi Prime Minister’s inaction.

  1. Sk Hasina takes a soft stance towards Muslim extremists for she is aware of the fact that her chair will go if she takes bold steps against these religious bigots who incite flames of communal violence and wage violent attacks on Hindu minorities time & again. Of course, some arrests are made. These are all eye-wash. No stern action or capital punishment has been tended to these Muslim Jihadists who behead Hindus (Jatan Saha’s brutal killing is an eye-opener), lynch them to death, rape & kill Hindu women (minor girls not spared). Actually these Muslim bigots take Hindus as vermins . So ‘wipe them out’ is their policy. The recent slur of Awami League MP, Md Ayeenuddin attests to the deep communal hatred that will sooner or later Talibanize the whole of Bangladesh!
