Senior Congress leader and Karnataka Minister for Haj and Urban Development, MLA Roshan Baig, made derogatory comments about PM Narendra Modi and ex-CM BS Yedyurappa while addressing Congress party workers in Bengaluru.
Legislator from Shivajinagar, Baig while addressing a party workers meeting at Pulkeshinagar recently, said those who praised Modi for the demonetisation are now cursing him. “They are calling him Bastard for banning Rs 500 and Rs 1,000,” Baig said as the crowd cheered on him.
Baig did not spare senior BJP leader and ex-CM BS Yedyurappa either. “What did Yeddyurappa do when he was the chief minister of Karnataka? He spent his years ogling at Shobha Karandlaje throughout (sic),” Baig riled.
Baig’s intemperate comments invited condemnation from all non-Congress parties. JD(S) supremo and former PM Deve Gowda too criticised minister Baig for such comments. “Whatever may be the emotion, in politics one needs to criticise issues rather than making personal comments. This is unacceptable,” Deve Gowda said.
PM Modi has been at the receiving aend of choice abuse and slurs from Congress and other left-secular leaders throughout his career. Some of the abuses hurled at him include ‘snake, scorpion, Maut Ka Saudagar (merchant of death), gandi nali ka kida (gutter insect), rabies-infected monkey, nalayak (worthless), Bhasmasur (demon), Hitler, Pol Pot (communist mass murdering leader), mad dog, aadamkhor (man-eater), gangu teli (casteist jibe at Modi’s Ghanchi caste), impotent, mentally retarded, barbarian, hijra (eunuch), peeping tom, Yamraj (God of death).”
It remains to be seen how many Lutyens’ commentators ask Sonia Gandhi or her son Rahul Gandhi to unequivocally condemn the latest below-the-belt outburst from a senior Congress leader towards the PM of the country.
