BJP National President Amit Shah flagged off a grand march against the political murders by Communist party in Kerala. The ‘Jana Raksha Yatra’ as the march is called started from Payyannur in Kannur district on 3rd October and was successful in raising public opinion on the ‘Marxist-Jihadi’ terror. Lasting for 15 days, the Jana Raksha Yatra is scheduled to be concluded today at Thiruvananthapuram after covering a distance of more than 600 kilometers in various districts across the state. Some of the highlights of the Jana Raksha Yatra are:

• Jana Raksha yatra is one of the biggest long-distance roadshows conducted by BJP after the Ayodhya movement. The Yatra covers about 600 kms. At any given point in time, at least 15 thousand people are walking on the road.

• Apart from a couple of top National leaders of the party, there is a unit of Yuva morcha (BJP Youth wing) from each state that is accompanying the yatra each day.

• The entire distance in Kannur district, where the Marxist violence is at its peak, the full 50 kilometres were covered by walk. Four days out of the 14-day yatra was dedicated to Kannur district.

• Every national leader who comes to the show has to walk on an average of 10 km. The benchmark was set by president Amit Shah himself who walked 16 km from Payyanur to Pilathara.

• A dedicated Swachch Bharat team follows the yatra to pick up the water sachets and other wastes, if the Yatra leaves any on the streets.

• There are two public meetings each day and party makes sure that the ground is already filled before the padayatra reaches the spot. This makes sure that people who cant walk also participates in this mega show of strength.

• The state government under CPI(M) termed the yatra a ‘wet cracker’ in the beginning. Later CPI(M) had to conduct their own rally to counter Jana Raksha Yatra.
• Every district displays its martyrs and leaders visit their kith and kin.This also creates an info for the new generation about the sacrifice of all the martyrs.

• The communists are resorting to various mischiefs to obstruct the Jana Raksha Yatra. Most hilarious among them is the street lights being switched off in all cities where the yatra ended each day. This according to party sources, is to hide the number of people participating in the Padayatra.

Over 50,000 party workers and sympathizers will join the Jana Raksha Yatra led by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan when it marches from Sreekaryam to Thiruvananthapuram on October 17 marking its conclusion.
