FIR lodged against TMC leader for posting doctored video defaming Modi-Yogi

With Mamata Banerjee making her national ambitions clear, the TMC has been going out of its way to denigrate the Bharatiya Janata Party and its governance. In their desperate mission to pull down the BJP, they have posted fake information on their official Twitter account and have tried to propagate lies.

On Friday, December 24 an FIR was lodged against All India Trinamool Congress party (TMC) spokesperson Riju Dutta at the Dashashwamedh police station in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Dutta is accused of sharing a severely doctored video that suggested PM Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were met with averse sloganeering by people during the inauguration ceremony of the Kashi Viswanath Corridor held on December 13, 2021.

The original clips of the event shared by social media user Ankur Singh show that the enthusiastic crowd was, in fact, cheering for the Prime Minister as well as the Chief Minister of their state while receiving the duo warmly and cordially for the inauguration, while attempting to take a picture on their cell phones.

The TMC leaders had posted that very clip but had swapped the original audio with the slogans of “Modi Hai Hai” and “Yogi Chor Hain”.

Varanasi Commissioner of Police A Satish Ganesh has confirmed the news and stated that the complaint against the TMC representative was registered by SHO Dashashwamedh, and an inquiry on the case is being conducted by Chowk inspector Shivkant Mishra. Despite the FIR being filed against TMC leader Riju Dutta, it is unknown if there has been an FIR against the party’s Rajya Sabha nominee Jawahar Sircar, who has shared the doctored video as well.

Further, the Varanasi Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh has stated that a notice has also been sent to Twitter India under the CrPC by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) asking for the IP details of Dutta and demanding a suspension of his Twitter account.

Twitter had later added the tag of ‘manipulated media’ to the tweet posted by the TMC leaders. Following these advancements, both Sircar and Dutta, known for their intense hate for PM Narendra Modi, had deleted their Tweets with the fake visuals. However, neither of them has tendered any apology for this unacceptable conduct.

Continuing their deplorable conduct on social media, TMC’s official twitter handle tweeted a doctored image of the Prime Minister on their official Twitter handle. It was a picture of Prime Minister Modi and the Uttar Pradesh CM onboard Kanpur metro that showed the PM waving outside the window. While the PM was waving back to ordinary citizens greeting him from their houses, the TMC handle replaced the image outside with that of the Ganga riverbed spotted with dead bodies, repeating the false narrative that those buried were abandoned Covid-19 victims.

This falsehood had been busted during the deadly second wave, when local reports confirmed that such burials along the Ganga is an ancient practice followed by certain Hindu communities and had nothing to do with Covid-19.

That this was a morphed image was called out by various Twitter users who posted the real image showing the PM waving to people outside the window.

Hurting Hindu sentiments, playing politics over the dead, peddling falsehoods to to serve their supremo’s political ambitions – all this is nothing new for TMC and other ‘secular’ outfits. The discredited Lutyens’ elites are also backing this corrupt, genocidal, fascist politician making a play for the PM’s post.
