LoP Fadnavis reveals Thackeray-led MVA govt’s plot to frame BJP leaders in false cases

Speaking in the Maharashtra assembly, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis made some startling revelations accusing the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) government of conspiring to frame BJP leaders in fake cases. In this regard, he submitted 125 hours of video proofs to both the assembly speaker and Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil.

Fadnavis also alleged that the MVA government of misusing the police machinery along with using the Public Prosecutor and ACP to frame the BJP leaders. He was speaking on the motion moved by the opposition on the law and order situation under rule 293. One such video was also shared by BJP MLA Ameet Satam showing the public prosecutor explaining the brief given to him to frame BJP leaders such as Devendra Fadnavis, Girish Mahajan, and others.

He also said that in a democracy the ruling party conspiring to finish off its opponents doesn’t augur well. On this occasion, he opined that Maharashtra was a progressive state where parties are opposed to each other but not one another’s enemies.

Regarding the targeting of Girish Mahajan, Fadnavis said “A case was registered in 2021 against Girish Mahajan in Pune a few days ago. The case was based on a controversy relating to the Maratha Shikshan Prasarak Mandal alleging that Mahajan’s secretary had kidnapped a person belonging to the Patil faction on behalf of the Mandal’s Bhoite faction. A fake case was made against Mahajan alleging that he had made a threatening phone call. Documents were prepared to book Mahajan under MCOCA. All of this was done to remove Mahajan”.

While making these accusations, Fadnavis also confirmed that video recordings of up to 125 hours have been submitted in the pen drive. He further pointed out that the office of the special public prosecutor was the center where all the conspiracies were hatched. “Everything from how to plant the knife, show blood, conduct raids, what items should be planted during the raids, how cases should be framed under MCOCA, all of these conspiracies are being hatched by the public prosecutor, and even the police are complicit as are some ministers in the entire conspiracy”, the LoP said in his speech.

Without naming Eknath Khadse, the BJP leader also hinted at his involvement in the plot. “There are some unmentionable details there in the videos. I must not mention them in order to maintain the dignity of this house”, he said before going on to detail the conspiracy hatched against Girish Mahajan. Anil Deshmukh, Ajit Pawar, and even ‘saheb’ have been mentioned in the video in addition to several leaders from the MVA government.

In one of the videos, Fadnavis says the supporter of Anil Deshmukh confirms the ‘vasooli’ done by Deshmukh and also rues the loss of revenue due to his being removed from the post. In the revelations, it has also come to light that the judiciary was ‘managed’ so that the case against Chhagan Bhujbal is scuttled. The entire episode also shows how the MVA government has been offering important posts like that of the police commissioner in exchange for the promise of framing the likes of Fadnavis.

After having detailed the important portions of the conversation by accused special public prosecutor Pravin Chavan, the LoP demanded that a CBI inquiry in the matter in addition to highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Speaking of the numerous bomb blasts that shook the country’s financial capital Mumbai, he stated that the hand of Dawood Ibrahim has come out clearly in all of these blasts. Ibrahim who is the country’s enemy is now enjoying the hospitality of Pakistan.

Furthermore, “Ibrahim then used his sister Hasina Parkar and other contacts here to raise black money that was then employed in terror activities against our country. On February 3, 2022, the NIA registered a case against the aides of Ibrahim”, said Fadnavis. He also brought forth the fact that Nawab Malik, who has been arrested in connection with the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case and remanded to judicial custody till March 21, had conducted business with those who had destroyed Mumbai.

“Can those who have links with terrorists be allowed to sit in this assembly? RR Patil was hounded for sitting next to Ibrahim’s man despite the fact that he didn’t even know the same. Here is a person who directly conducts business with them. Who are we supporting? Sanjay Rathod was asked to resign even before a case was registered against him. Why is the rule different for Nawab Malik? It is necessary that his resignation is taken”.

BJP leaders raised the demand for Malik’s resignation outside the assembly as well. Fadnavis and other leaders of the party staged protests at Azad Maidan on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Nawab Malik. The leaders raised the slogan ‘Nawab Malik Hatao, Maharashtra Bachao’ on this occasion.

“According to the reports, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil has also been detained by the Mumbai Police and the duo along with other BJP members were taken to the Yellow Gate Police Station. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis confirmed his detention and said on social media that he and his colleagues had been detained by the MVA government”, noted OpIndia. These leaders were detained at the Yellow Gate Police Station.
