Nine men attempted to barge into the house of noted columnist and editor of Thuglak magazine S Gurumurthy, in the early hours of Sunday, reports The New Indian Express. A Chartered Accountant by training, S Gurumurthy is also the co-convenor of the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, an RSS affiliate.
The men also hurled two molotov cocktails (petrol bombs) at Gurumurthy’s house in Varadarajapuram in Mylapore, before fleeing when challenged by the police guard on duty. Two men, suspected cadre of extremist Dravidian outfit Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK), have been arrested by police.
On January 14, it was during Thuglak magazine’s annual function that actor Rajinikanth commented on some unsavoury truths about a Hindu-bashing rally conducted by Dravidian movement’s founder E.V. Ramaswami Naicker, aka Periyar in Salem in 1971.
The intruders reportedly escaped on five bikes after a policeman on guard duty was alerted by the barking of dogs in the house and raised an alarm. Soon after the incident, Commissioner of Police AK Viswanathan and other senior police officers visited the house.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mylapore, S Nelson, “The house was under security cover. The unidentified men reached the area and were roaming around the house, evoking suspicion. When they tried to enter the house with a suspicious item in the bag, the personnel tried to accost them, following which they ran.”
A similar attack was made on S Gurumurthy’s house in 2013.
The current story goes back to the arrest of Police Fakruddin in 2013 who confessed he had been caught before he could shoot me. He had done recci at home & office. The police then insisted I must have a gun man with me and advised us to install CCTV cameras at home and office

Tamil Nadu has long been a hotbed for Dravidian and Islamist extremists, something which ‘national’ media has completely ignored in their obsession with ‘secular’ politics and Hindu-bashing. The ugly anti-Hinduism of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) is well known to ordinary Tamilians, but kept hidden from the rest of Bharat by the cozy club of Lutyens’ elites who control national media.
Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) is a splinter group of Periyar’s Dravidar Kazhagam. TPDK tried to burn the effigies of Sri Rama, Sita and Lakshmana on Vijayadasami (Dussehra) in 2016, to prop up the fake ‘Aryan Invasion’ theory, a well known stick in TN to beat Hindus with. Their celebration of ‘Ravan Leela‘, as opposed to ‘Ram Leela’ in the rest of Bharat, turned out to be an utter flop.
The same organization planned to make pigs wear the sacred thread (janeu) on Avani Avittam (a day on which Brahmins change their janeu) claiming it to be a protest against ‘Brahminism’. They even created a poster of a pig wearing the sacred thread with Saiva and Vaishnava tilaks (Pattai and Naamam) smeared across its body.
The threat to Hindu voices in Tamil Nadu from Dravidians and Islamists is real. It is time the rest of the country woke up to this ugly reality before we see more brutal killings like that of Auditor V Ramesh, C Sasikumar, R Suri and many more forgotten names.
