Don’t forget the politicians who batted for Pakistan after Pulwama

In the immediate aftermath of the dastardly Pulwama suicide attack, there were two distinct strain of responses from Bharat’s Opposition parties. One was a jeering & mocking of PM Modi’s ‘tough leader’ credentials in the face of a devastating attack that killed over 40 soldiers.

The other was even more cynical and traitorous – several political parties and Lutyens’ analysts claimed, explicitly or implicitly, that PM Modi may have had a hand in carrying out the attack to indulge in some Pakistan-bashing just before the Lok Sabha elections.

Another variant of this theory was that since the suicide bomber was a local Kashmiri youth, we should introspect over the attack and not lash out at Pakistan where a new ‘charming & thoughtful’ PM was now offering a hand of peace; never mind the fact that Adil Ahmad Dar was brainwashed in the Islamist laboratory run by ISI & JeM, and that Imran Khan is a mere puppet in the hand of the Pakistani Army.

Here is a list of some politicians & analysts, who made this disgusting allusion and were given a free pass by most of our self-proclaimed ‘fearless and unbiased’ media doyens after doing so –

Mamata Banerjee

If there is one politician today who is ever willing to take up anti-Bharat cudgels to play to her domestic votebank gallery, in particular the 30% Muslim electorate which she believes is her ticket to power, it is the vitriolic Mamata Banerjee.

Her first response was to question the timing of the attack and demanding that no blame be assigned to Pakistan until a ‘full investigation’ is completed. She then went on to attack the Modi Government for alleged intelligence & operational failures.

After Bharat’s Balakot airstrike in response to Pulwama, Mamata claimed the Government is creating a ‘war-hysteria’ and quoted Bharat-baiting Western media sources like NYT, WaPo to question efficacy of the airstrike.

Not surprisingly, Mamata’s utterances were eagerly lapped up the Pakistani Government’s propaganda arms.

Assorted Congressis

If there is any kind of mud-slinging to be done, national self-doubt to be created, how can the grand old party of Bharat, i.e. Congress be left behind? After all, it is the master of doublespeak & running with the hares while hunting with the hounds!

And Congress didn’t disappoint over Pulwama as well. First off the blocks was Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala who labelled the Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber ‘a homegrown so called terrorist’ and questioned who had provided explosives and guns to him – thereby neatly handing Pakistan an alibi.

Next, AICC Secretary Dr. A Chellakumar hinted that the Pulwama attack was ‘manufactured’ as the Government had “failed to produce the fidayeen’s body.” He further speculated that the Pulwama attack could have been ‘manipulated’ like the 2002 Godhra train burning in which 58 Hindu pilgrims were burnt alive. Congress MP from Karnataka, BK Hariprasad, claimed that the Pulwama terror attack was a ‘fixed match’ between PM Narendra Modi and Pakistan.

Finally, who else but senior leader and family loyalist Digvijay Singh (he of the ’26/11 is an RSS conspiracy’ fame) rounded off things by asking for evidence of effectiveness of the Balakot airstrike, slandering PM Modi as a ‘liar’ while in the same breath praising Pakistan PM Imran Khan (a known Pakistan Army-ISI lackey) for ‘safely returning’ IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman – something that even a terrorist-nation like Pakistan is bound to do under the Geneva convention. Congress leader Navjot Sidhu also questioned the air strikes and called it an ‘election gimmick’.

No wonder, the Pakistani press and establishment is praying fervently for a Rahul Gandhi & Congress win in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Raj Thackeray

Raj Thackeray is desperate to revive his almost dead political career, and hence has put all his eggs in the ‘secular’ basket these days. A protege of the value-free brand of politics practised by the amorphous Sharad Pawar, Thackeray too claimed the Pulwama attack is ‘manufactured’ and darkly hinted that the truth would come out if NSA Ajit Doval is questioned. He called the jawans killed in the attack as ‘political victims.’

CPM

If there is even the slightest chance of betraying the nation or dampening nationalist sentiment, how can the communists be left behind? Right on cue, the official CPM mouthpiece ‘Ganashakti’ claimed Pakistan is being targeted to cover up our failure in protecting jawans.

That’s right – if another nation is attacking you relentlessly through a jihadi proxy war, you should not turn your ire on that nation but only self-flagellate for failing to defend your borders – that’s the Communist prescription for a strong, fearless Bharat!

Akhilesh Yadav

The SP supremo also pointedly avoided taking Pakistan’s name in the wake of the Pulwama attack and instead trained his guns on the PM, demanding he ‘tell the truth’ about the terror attack. A few days later, Yadav mocked the Government for “waiting and watching” and merely attending the martyred soldier’s funeral processions. After Bharat conducted the Balakot air strike in retaliation for Pulwama, Akhilesh joined the Opposition chorus asking for proof of the air strikes. Akhilesh’s uncle Ram Gopal Yadav too called Pulwama a ‘conspiracy’ (sazish) and pinned the blame on the government for the same.

HD Kumaraswamy

The Karnataka CM and son of JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda also claimed the Pulwama attack was staged, claiming in an election rally that ‘he had been told 2 years back by a retired military officer that enmity between Bharat and Pakistan would be cooked up before the Lok Sabha polls to mislead and seek votes from people.’

Chandrababu Naidu

The CM of Andhra Pradesh also gave cover to Pakistan over Pulwama, claiming PM Modi and BJP’s ‘inefficiency’ was the real threat to national security, and that Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s predictable denial of Pakistani involvement in the terror attack had raised ‘many apprehensions.’

Apart from these political shysters, a section of elites like defence analyst Ajai Shukla, civil services topper and bureaucrat turned politician Shah Faesal, were also seen parroting different variants of the narrative that Pulwama was ‘staged’ for electoral benefit of Narendra Modi.

With friends like these, who needs enemies? Vote wisely, Bharat.
