DMK has nominated a racist for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypolls. Kanimozhi Somu, nominated for one of the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, exhibited unadulterated hatred towards Brahmins by calling them as “parasites” in a live TV debate.
Kanimozhi NVN Somu, a gynecologist by profession, is the chief of DMK’s Medical Wing. She is the daughter of late NVN Somu, who died in a helicopter crash when he was on government business as MoS defence. She is also the granddaughter of NV Natarajan, one of the five founders of DMK.
Kanimozhi has been nominated for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by polls as two of the ADMK MPs had resigned their positions after winning in the assembly election. While it is commendable that the party has given opportunity to a woman and a doctor at that, her credentials have come to be questioned after one of her remarks about Brahmins went viral in social media.
In a live debate in News X, she can be heard saying, “It is always the Aryans. You people were parasites sticking on the Dravidian movement.. Please understand that”. She further said that late ADMK CM MG Ramachandran aka MGR had a tinge of Aryans. It is unclear whether she meant that he had no animosity against Tamil Brahmins as opposed to DMK from which he left and started ADMK, or that MGR’s birth had a background of Nair-Brahmin marital relationship.
Whichever way she exhibited unadulterated hatred and racism by calling Brahmins parasites and classifying them separately. It is further strengthened by the fact that she couldn’t even tolerate that MGR treated Brahmins like any other community. While it is not new for anyone steeped in Dravidian ideology to hate Brahmins simply for their existence, it becomes a problem when such people get constitutional power.
The current CM of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, had kicked off a party conference by unnecessarily abusing the Brahmin community in his keynote. Now that he has become the CM, he has ensured that his ministers are 100% non-Brahmins, a fact often gloated by Periyarists. However both him and Kanimozhi Somu claim that they are “not against any caste or religion..only against discrimination”. When they take pain to ensure that a specific community is not allowed representation in the government, how can they be trusted to be “against discrimination” and ensure “social justice”?
True to his ideology, MK Stalin, despite campaigning that he isn’t against Hindu Dharma, has been meddling in Hindu affairs from the moment he took oath. His government introduced a scheme to distribute food to Covid-19 patients using temple money through HRCE. His HRCE minister promised to appoint pujaris of all castes and women pujaris in temples across TN without respecting the Agamas and sampradayas followed in them.
The list is endless and we can expect similar discrimination and over reach from Kanimozhi Somu ad well as se has made her thoughts about Brahmins very clear. MPs have the right to recommend students to central government institutions such as Kendriya Vidyalaya schools. What if a Brahmin kid with merit reaches out to her for help like that? Would she discriminate? The answer lies in what she called them in the live TV debate.
