Congress’s harakiri in Rajasthan

A comedy of errors is being played out in the theatre of the absurd which is the Congress of the present where in order to elect a lame-duck president the party has plunged itself in a crisis of it’s own making yet again. Congress has mastered the art of committing harakiri and is doing it again to perfection.

Well, they have done it so many times that it won’t be a surprise if they put the axe on their feet again much to the delight of the BJP. The spat is out in the open with Gehlot openly saying that he will not hand over the reins of the state to a traitor ( Sachin Pilot).

90 MLA have tendered their resignation to the speaker in support of Gehlot and against Pilot being appointed the CM. The Congress has 108 MLA’S  in the 200-member house and Sachin could upset the Congress applecart with his 18 odd MLAs.

The games being played out by the wily old fox and Sonia’s confidante  Ashok Gehlot have not escaped anyone least of all Sonia. Gehlot is trying his best to keep the promising Sachin Pilot away from the CM’S  chair as he moves to Delhi in his likely new job as the Congress’s lame-duck president.

But will he wreck the Congress in Rajasthan before easing into the Congress president’s chair is the big question and does he have the blessings of the high command in yet another self-destructive exercise.

Surely if Pilot is not given him due this time he will have no second thoughts about quitting Congress. If Gehlot were to prop up his henchman as the Congress head in Rajasthan it will be the last nail in the coffin and not only sabotage the party’s chances in Rajasthan but also ensure that one more leader & young talent is made to leave the Congress because of the high commands apathy & dum witted attitude.

Pilot could join the long list of people who have quit the party including Gulab Nabi Azad,  jasveer shergill, Ashwani kumar, Kapil Sibal, jyotiraje Scindia, RPN Singh, Hardik Patel, Sunil jakhar and the list goes on.

All of them felt betrayed  by the high command and blamed the mother son duo and the subsequent policy paralysis  in the Congress for their exit.

What is playing out in Rajasthan has happened earlier in Madhya Pradesh where the Congress lost a promising young leader and eventually the state to the whims & fancies of the high command and their cronies Kamal Nath who hilariously has been called to Delhi as a troubleshooter to diffuse the current crisis.

Scindia had to walk out of the Congress with his MLA but not before bringing about the nemesis of his bete noire and subsequently the Congress in the State.

If Pilot is pushed into a corner by Gehlot once again and Sonia remains a mute spectator the former will be left with no option but to quit the Congress with his supporters which could plunge the Gehlot government into a crisis of its own making.

The only northern bastion that the oldest national party holds on to could be lost soon.
