Communists invite Rana Ayyub for a ‘lecture’: Kerala

Communists in Kerala have invited Rana Ayyub, the accused in the money laundering case, for the first memorial lecture of prominent Keralite media personality E Somanath. Ayyub, who claims to be a media activist, has several issues to her name, including money laundering and deliberately trying to incite communal tension.

Somanath was a political analyst, assembly reporter, and environmental writer who passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on 28 January 2022, aged 58. Somanath retired from Malayala Manorama as Senior Special Correspondent in 2021. He had served in various district bureaus during his 34-year-long association with the newspaper.

Somanath reported happenings in the Kerala assembly for 30 years and was well-known for his satire. Before retiring from Malayala Manorama, former Kerala Assembly Speaker and communist leader M B Rajesh and legislators had felicitated the journalist. Somanath hailed from Vallikkunnu in Malappuram district, and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled his death.

Though Malayala Manorama is considered a pro-Congress propaganda machine, it is clear that its agenda is leftist/liberal. They still carry a hangover of Nehru-era socialism. The media house tends to side with those in power in Kerala since they know that both Congress and the communists are partners in Delhi.

Ayyub is renowned for spreading blatant lies while posing as a journalist. This Washington Post propagandist has done everything, including concealing atrocious crimes committed by radical Islamists against Hindus, devising instances to support a false narrative of Muslim victimhood, and sharing fake information to attack the BJP leadership in Delhi.

Anti-national Ayyub has a case filed against her for misappropriating funds collected in the name of helping covid and flood victims. The Supreme Court is hearing the money laundering case on the 26th. E Somanath memorial lecture is scheduled at Thiruvananthapuram on the 29th.

The event is organized by the former state secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), Pannyan Raveendran. He is also the Chairman of a shady group called E. Somanath Fraternity. They have also pulled in communist propaganda agent Kerala Media Academy. Leftist mouthpiece ‘The Hindu’ is certainly profoundly involved with this group.

Why would they invite a vile anti-Hindu character like Ayyub? It is certainly something that the Keralite Hindu communists have to answer. Unlike the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) that Islamist communists now run, CPI is mostly a non-Muslim party.

Money Laundering

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had seized Rs.1.77 crore from Rana Ayub in a case of misappropriation of funds collected through the controversial crowdfunding & medical fundraising website Ketto.org. The dispute is that the funds received for fundraising were diverted to other accounts and used for personal purposes. Ayyub cheated several contributors through a pre-planned method.

According to probe officials, she launched three donation campaigns. It included funds for slum dwellers and farmers during April- May 2020, flood relief work for Assam, Bihar, and Maharashtra during June- September 2020, and help for Covid-19-impacted people in Bharat during May June 2021.

She collected almost Rs.2.70 cr through Ketto, of which Rs.80.49 lakh was received in foreign currency. These monies were transferred to the personal bank accounts of Ayyub, her father, and her sister. Seventy-two lakhs went to Ayyub’s bank account, and 1.60 cr was transferred to the account of father Mohammad Ayyub Waqif, a ‘journalist’ with Blitz magazine. Ayyub also moved 37 lakhs to the account of her sister Iffat Shaikh.

ED documents said that Ayyub later spent the money transferred to his sister’s and father’s accounts for her expenses, including vacation trips. She later returned the foreign donations after the Income Tax Department initiated an investigation as it violated the Foreign Contribution Regulations Act (FCRA).

When the ED recorded Ayyub’s statement, she allegedly told the investigators that she roughly spent Rs 60 lakh to Rs 70 lakh for relief work. Ayyub submitted a few vouchers and bills worth 31 lakhs to the ED. Upon audit, it was found that the actual amount spent was only 17 lakhs.

She produced fake bills showing that expenses were incurred in the name of some organizations for relief work. Air travel for personal use was written off as relief expenditure. It was also found that Rs 50 lakh was diverted to another fixed deposit account.

On being questioned, Ayyub told the officials that the bank manager had advised her to make a fixed deposit to get some interest, as the money would be used to build a hospital. However, the bank manager allegedly denied giving any such advice to Ayyub.

It was late 2021, and the lady could not explain why she had not utilized the donations or explained certain expenditures. Investigators revealed that the scheme was fraudulent and was masked in the name of charity work. ED concluded that Rs 1.77 cr should be recovered from Ayyub, and a fixed interest of Rs 50 lakh should be charged. The amount she lavished on herself was allegedly gone, and her contributors were duped.

According to ED officials, the funds were misused and diverted to other accounts to spend on private purposes. A case of embezzling public funds in the name of charity work was filed on 7 September 2021 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under various sections of the IT act. The ED seized Rs 1.77 crore as proceeds from the crime in the money laundering case.

Somewhat arrogantly, Ayyub said, “It is abundantly clear that no part of the relief campaign fund remains unaccounted for, and there is absolutely no scope for any remote allegation of misuse of the funds for personal expenses.” She has been seething at the ED ever since.

Inciting Communal Tensions

Tehelka’s former editor Ayyub left the magazine, protesting editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal’s failure to publish a report on the fake encounter in Gujarat, saying it was substandard. Her latest and probably the most serious allegation against her is a planned move behind Nupur Sharma being hunted down by Islamists for making statements against the Prophet and that Ayyub initiated it.

In June 2021, Ghaziabad Police filed a formal complaint against Alt News co-founder Muhammad Zubair, The Wire, Ayyub, and Twitter for attempting to incite racial unrest. They spread fake videos that an elderly Muslim man was beaten and made to recite ‘Jai Shri Ram.’ Police observed in the FIR that these individuals and groups circulated manipulated videos to give a communal twist to a personal fight.

An Investigation revealed that the first video of the beating didn’t mention Jai Shri Ram. A second video of the victim, Abdul Shamad Saifi, was recorded at the home of Samajwadi Party leader, thief, and rabidly anti-Hindu Umed Idris. He confessed to giving the Ghaziabad crime a false communal angle to gain political mileage. Ayyub, the fake news peddler, displayed no remorse and still runs the same story on her Twitter account.

In January 2021, Ayyub invented a fabricated story to sympathize with ‘comedian’ Munawar Faruqui, who was sent to jail for mocking Hindu victims of the Godhra riots of 2002. Faruqui also passed indecent remarks against Hindu Bhagwans/Bhagvathis. To vilify the BJP government and portray them as intolerant, Ayyub tweeted that Faruqui was arrested only because he cracked a joke on Amit Shah. The Islamist propagandist omitted the part about Hindu deities in her tweet.

In September 2020, Ayyub lied about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in an article for TIME magazine. She claimed that 82-year-old Shaheen Bagh ‘protestor’ Bilkis was against the bill since it could block Muslims from citizenship in the country. It became clear that Publications like TIME publish such lies and provide a platform to push fake news on Bharatiya laws.

Both the ladies knew very well that CAA has nothing to do with Bharatiya citizens, Muslim or otherwise. It seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted religious minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Just like other Shaheen Bagh Muslims, Bilkis too was being paid to sit in protest, like daily wage workers.

The list of atrocities committed by Ayyub against Hindus goes on and on. The less articulated her anti-Narendra Modi agenda, the better. When will ordinary Keralite Hindus understand who our friends are and learn to recognize anti-nationals? Fake political leaders have their agenda and to expect them to change is foolish.
