Congress and Pawar ensure Hindu-hating comic Munawar Faruqui gets to perform in Mumbai

Congress and Pawar as also the MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) government displayed its Hindu-hatred once again by inviting Hindu-hating ‘comic’ Munawar Faruqui to perform in Mumbai. The All India Professionals Congress (AIPC) sought police protection for the ‘stand-up comic’ and the audience from ‘a certain group of people’.

Congress sought protection for Faruqui show

The show titled “From Dongri to Nowhere” took place on 18 December in view of which the Congress wrote to the police citing how the so-called comic had been ‘forced’ to cancel his show for the twelfth consecutive time at various cities across the country. It also said that it wanted to ‘protect’ freedom of expression and choice guaranteed by the constitution.

Interestingly, the hall where the event took place falls under the aegis of Sharad Pawar. It is, however, not surprising that both the Congress and the NCP extend their support to a Hindu hater like Faruqui.

Hinduphobic ‘stand-up comic’ Munawar Faruqui

Faruqui has shown scant regard for the sentiments of Hindus even as Congress justifies the same saying his videos were taken out of context. He had earlier not only mocked Bhagwan Ram and Maa Sita but hadn’t spared the victims of the Godhra train massacre as well. However, it is probably too much to expect from parties of the current MVA dispensation to empathize with Hindus.

The show that took place in Mumbai thanks to the ‘secular’ MVA dispensation, had run into trouble when Hindu organizations in neighboring Gujarat protested against the same. Hindu organizations such as Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad had opposed Faruqui’s tour citing his Hinduphobic comments in the name of comedy. They pointed out how Faruqui had hurt Hindu religious sentiments and insulted Hindu devis and devatas during his previous shows.

While denying bail, the single bench of Madhya Pradesh High court’s Indore bench Justice Rohit Arya noted in his order:

“The evidence/material collected so far, suggest that in an organized public show under the garb of standup comedy at a public place on commercial line, prima facie; scurrilous, disparaging utterances, outraging religious feelings of a class of citizens of India with deliberate intendment, were made by the applicants…

…There is also a specific assertion by the learned counsel for the complainant that the applicant alongwith other co-accused persons allegedly making outraging filthy jokes in social media deliberately against Hindu Gods, Lord Shriram and Goddess Seeta hurting religious sentiments of Hindus for the last 18 months despite, protest on various social media platforms. There is nothing on record to the contrary.”

Despite such scathing observations by the MP High Court, the SC bench headed by Justice RF Nariman overturned the judgment. In case after case, it has been observed that courts are lenient on Muslim offenders who abuse Hindus and Hindu deities in the vilest manner.

For all its claim of Rahul Gandhi being a ‘janeudhari Brahmin’, the Congress has time and again bared its anti-Hindu fangs. The party’s anti-Hindu bigotry was amply apparent in the Dhanteras ‘wishes’ posted by it on social media (SM) where it opined that there was nothing to ‘celebrate’ since women were supposedly not safe in the country.

We can expect Congress to play spoilsport during every occasion cherished by Hindus with the party moral lecturing and political messaging. If you thought, this was just a one-off incident then you are sadly mistaken as is clear from the party’s Deepawali greetings in previous years. It is hard to forget how Congress councilor Sukhraj Aulakh allegedly passed despicable remarks against Hindu women, Hindu Dharma, and its rituals during Janmashtami this year.

Sharad Pawar sails in the same secular boat where mocking Hindu sentiments is considered par for the course. The NCP Supremo had taken a dig at the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya by saying “some people believe Corona will go away by constructing Ram Mandir”. His statement came at a time when the construction of the grand Ram Mandir was scheduled to begin and the bhoomipujan by PM Modi was a couple of weeks away.

The secular government of Maharashtra coming out in support of a Hindu-hater like Faruqui is certainly not surprising because the Congress temple-runs are election photo-ops. It is high time Hindus realize the true face of Bharat’s secularism.
