AAP government claims CCTV cameras in 3,697 DTC buses: RTI proves the hoax

The AAP government proudly boasted in their 2015 manifesto that they will install CCTVs in DTC buses, bus stands and in crowded places as a deterrent against crime. They endeavoured to ensure that women can go about their jobs in the city free of stress while travelling by public transport. The AAP government claims to have installed CCTV cameras in 3,697 Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses.

(AAP government manifesto 2015)

According to an RTI filed dated 02.09.2020, Not a single CCTV camera has been fitted in buses for the last five years i.e FY 2015-16, FY 2016-17, FY 2017-18, FY 2018-19 & FY 2019-20. Fabricated statements sold by the AAP government on CCTV cameras is merely a white lie!

Meanwhile, As per latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data 2022, Delhi is the most unsafe metropolitan city for women in Bharat! As per the data, Delhi recorded 13,892 cases of crimes against women in 2021, a significant surge of more than 40% compared to 2020 when the figure was 9,782. Is this the so-called women’s safety model in Delhi? The CCTV cameras in DTC buses are not there to prevent any crime against women and women’s safety is next to null in Delhi!
