“4.5 crore illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Bharat pose serious threat”: Uddhav Thackeray

That most politicians are slippery characters is common knowledge. After all, politics makes strange bedfellows. But the stunning hypocrisy of politicians who turn ‘secular’ in Bharat, and the lack of scrutiny that accompanies them, is of a different level altogether.

Ever since Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray broke ranks with the BJP to form the Maharashtra Government in alliance with ‘secular’ flag-bearers INC and NCP, he & his party have stopped being ‘communal saffron ogres’ for our left-liberal intelligentsia and chattering classes.

Uddhav Thackeray has arguably defeated even the king of U-turns, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, over the past month. After first voting in favor of the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill) in Lok Sabha on 10 Dec, Shiv Sena abstained from voting in Rajya Sabha having caved in to pressure from ally Congress which termed the bill ‘unconstitutional’. The bill however passed in both houses and became an Act (CAA) after the President’s assent.

Following violent anti-CAA protests in Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University, Uddhav Thackeray took a staggering leap of imagination and equated it to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre which shook the whole country in 1919 and triggered a wave of disgust across the country against the brutal British colonial rule.

Shiv Sena workers even assaulted & tonsured a North Indian man who criticized Uddhav for making this fantastical comparison. It will be interesting to see what new ally Congress, that in the past falsely accused Maharashtra BJP workers of assaulting North Indians in Mumbai, has to say on this actual assault on a North Indian.

Now, days after saying that the Maharashtra government will wait for the Supreme Court ruling on the CAA (SC will hear dozens of petitions challenging the new law in mid January), the state government led by Shiv Sena has now outright said that the new citizenship law will not be implemented in Maharashtra. This ‘assurance’ was made by CM Thackeray while meeting a delegation of Muslim leaders in Mumbai.

Of course, why a law offering slightly fast-tracked citizenship to persecuted minority refugees from Pak, Bangladesh, Afghanistan should even bother Indian Muslims is a question no one in left-liberal mainstream media cares to ask.

Now watch this campaign video for the Lok Sabha 2019 shot by Uddhav Thackeray, an election which Shiv Sena fought as part of the NDA alliance led by BJP –

In the video, Mr. Thackeray claims there are “4.5 crore illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the country, eating up the country’s resources, who have got themselves enrolled in voting lists, and are also responsible for acts of terror. To tackle this menace, he calls for a strong Government in Delhi.”

How much can change in a matter of a few months!
