Widow from Kerala Raped for 4 days in Uttarakhand, Pressurized to Convert

A widow from Kerala was held captive & raped for 4 days in Roorkee, Uttarakhand by legal clerk Firoz from Mangaluru, Karnataka. The woman somehow managed to escape and report her ordeal to police, Hindi daily Amar Ujala has reported.

The woman, resident of Thrissur district in Kerala, became friends with the accused Firoz, resident of Mangaluru, on Facebook around 1.5 years ago. Soon, both exchanged mobile numbers and started talking regularly. Firoz proposed marriage to the woman and invited her to Roorkee.

Four days back, the woman arrived in Roorkee and put up at a hotel owned by an acquaintance of Firoz. When the woman spoke about marriage, Firoz asked her to convert to Islam. When she refused, he held her captive in the hotel and raped her repeatedly. Then, he again tricked her saying he would marry her in Kerala.

They boarded a train to Delhi, but Firoz off just as the train started moving. The woman too jumped off the train behind him. So, again he took her back to the same hotel. He called some other acquaintances and together they started pressurizing the woman to convert – even offering her money to do so.

The woman managed to escape and reached Roorkee Civil Lines police station where she narrated her ordeal. SP (rural) Manikant Mishra told that based on the woman’s complaint, a case of rape has been lodged against Firoz, while an advocate and three women have been booked for threatening & forcing the woman to convert. Police is conducting raids to arrest Firoz, but he is currently absconding.

The woman is currently admitted in hospital & was diagnosed with a heart condition after she complained of chest pain.
