Violent clashes in Mumbai’s Aarey colony after attack on Shiv Mandir Kalash Yatra, 8-10 people injured, Sec 144 imposed

Even as the country is recovering from the Ram Navami violence, news has emerged of violence from Mumbai’s Aarey colony during the Shiv Mandir Kalash Yatra on Sunday night. 8-10 persons are reported to have been injured in the clash. The Aarey police brought the situation under control and subsequently imposed a curfew (Section 144) in the area.

The incident took place in the Gautam Nagar region of the Aarey colony located in Goregoan East. The procession was organized by the Shiv Mandir. However, around 8 at night when it reached Gautam Nagar clashes broke out. The 8-10 people injured in the violence are said to have been admitted to a hospital close by where they are being treated for their injuries.

Aarey Police have booked and arrested 25 people in connection with the clashes. Furthermore, a search is on for others who are suspected to have been involved in the violence. Additionally, the Aarey Police have stationed a huge force at Gautam Nagar to prevent any further untoward incidents.

Earlier, there were reports of violence from Amravati’s Achalpur area over a flag hoisted atop the Dulha Gate. Section 144 have also been imposed in Amravati and Paratwada cities. These incidents also reportedly occurred on Sunday night. Police forces along with three companies of SRPF have been stationed at both these cities. The police vigil has also been increased.
