Violent clashes break out over sexual harassment, land dispute in Katokhar, Bihar

Tension has gripped Katokhar Village of Manjhi Tehsil of Saran District in Bihar on Wednesday after a fight broke out between two groups after one of them alleged that members of the Muslim community were harassing their girls who attend tuition classes in the morning reports Zee News.

As per reports, there were violent clashes between two communities following sexual harassment and land disputes in which around half dozen people including a woman were injured. On receiving news of the dispute, policemen from Manjhi Police Station reached the spot and sent the injured to the Manjhi Primary Health Centre for treatment.

To ensure that the situation does not escalate and no untoward incident takes places, police forces from Daudpur, Aikma, Rasoolpur and other nearby stations were called in besides policemen from the Manjhi Police Station.

It has been learnt that during the clashes there were incidents of stone-pelting and knife-attacks. In view of the tense situation, SDPO Ajay Kumar, Sadar SDM and Manjhi SO arrived in the village and spoke to both groups to take stock of the incident.

A team of Riot Prevention Force was also sent to the village and orders were given by police and administration officials to set up a police camp here to ensure that there is no further escalation or fresh incidents of violence.
