UP: Hindu Woman Converted to Marry a Muslim Who Abandoned Her Along with their Daughter

Sunita, a Hindu woman, accepted Islam and became Shaheen Khan to marry Salman Khan, a stationery dealer in Aminabad, Uttar Pradesh. The couple has a daughter from the marriage and the victim is pregnant with another child. Despite being in such condition, she has been abandoned by her husband who has been accused of hitting her and marrying two other women, reports Hindi daily Amar Ujala.

Sunita met Salman, owner of Bombay Stationers, in 2006 in Aminabad. They both fell in love and later he converted her religion and performed Nikah. After that they started living together in a flat near Akbari Gate. Salman used to visit his home often. In 2008, he married a Muslim girl whom he kept at his home in Peer Jaleel Golagunj.

In 2015, Salman married another Muslim girl and kept her in another house. Soon he reduced his visits to Shaheen (Sunita).

When Shaheen came to know about his other two marriages, she protested. He used to physically assault her. Troubled Shaheen filed complaint against Salman in the Police Station. She also filed a suit in the family court which is under consideration. After this, Salman started threatening her. Infact, Salman never used to give her the maintenance money that was fixed by the court.

The couple has an 8-year old daughter and Shaheen is eight-months pregnant with another child. She had no money to even visit the doctor for checkup. When she approached Salman for asking to provide money, she was manhandled by him, his mother, brother and brother’s wife, who abused and pushed her.

Salman had also been forcing her to withdraw the case against him. Thus, he used to threaten and harass her.

She has filed a case against Salman in women’s police station.
