Two Muslims Arrested for Attempting to Rape Mother-Daughter in Mysuru, Karnataka

Police have arrested two persons on charges of attempting to rape a woman and her daughter after dragging them to a park at Gayathripuram in Udaygiri area of Mysuru city. The arrested have been identified as 27-year-old Suhail and 25-year-old Akmal of Gayathripuram.

On Aug. 8 evening, the woman aged about 40 years and her 18-year-old daughter were walking on the road, when Suhail and Akmal, who came on a bike, started harassing them and passing lewd comments, resulting in the mother confronting them and taking them to task.

Angered over this, Suhail and Akmal, allegedly dragged them to a park on the main road and tried to sexually assault them. As the mother and her daughter screamed for help, passersby and the public rushed to their rescue and the two accused fled from the spot.

Udayagiri Police, who rushed to the spot, registered a case based on the complaint given by the mother and based on the clues provided by the public, the cops have arrested the accused.It is learnt that the two accused have cases of robbery, extortion and attempt to murder, registered against them at Udayagiri, Devaraja and N.R. Police Stations in city.
