A Hindu father has lodged a police complaint against two Muslim youth for abducting and forcibly converting his college-going daughter to Islam. Shops throughout Ferozepur Jhirka town in Nuh district, Haryana were closed in protest over this matter on Monday, reports Navbharat Times. Protestors also blocked the busy Gurgaon-Alwar national highway for around 10 hours, and dispersed only after assurances from a senior police official.
As per the father’s complaint, his daughter left for college on 14th August. Around 2.30 PM, his son went to pick-up his sister from college, but found out that she had already left the college at 11.30 AM. Her family started searching for her, and found out that Aqil Khan and his friend Rashid had abducted the girl and taken her to Chandigarh.
When the father located his daughter in Chandigarh, she appeared to be in a drugged state. He has accused the 2 men of brainwashing & intimidating his daughter with threats of killing her family, to illegally convert her to Islam. Because of their terror, the daughter refused to recognize her own father.
The father has appealed to police to rescue his daughter. He wants her full medical checkup done, and for her health to be fully restored before she is questioned amidst tight security.
Agitated townfolk conducted a panchayat at the Arya Samaj mandir on Sunday, where it was decided to hold a mass protest and shut down the town the next day. All shops were shut and a massive protest, including many women, was organized at Lal Kuan chowk on Monday.
Such incidents of young Hindu women, some minor and others just barely out of their teens, being coerced or lured to convert to Islam are fast rising across North India. In June, the 19-year-old daughter of an RSS worker disappeared from Yamunanagar, Haryana and she too turned up in Chandigarh a few days later. In documents filed before court, the girl stated she had converted to Islam and married one Nabil at Pinjore’s Madina masjid on 10 June – but police later found that Nabil was out of the country on that date.
In December, a Hindu girl who had disappeared from Barmer, Rajasthan 8 months ago somehow made her way back home, and narrated a horrific tale of how she was threatened & blackmailed by a Kashmiri Muslim youth, held hostage & forcefully converted to Islam in Kupwara, J&K.
In September 2018, Swarajya had reported the tragic case of a Dalit father in Bijnore, UP desperately trying to recover his minor daughter months after she was kidnapped, converted and married based on flawed documents. When the father called up the man, Danish Hussain, who had abducted his daughter, he was told: “Ladki maine le li hai, tujhse wapas li jaaye to le le (I have taken the girl, take her back if you can)”.
And its not like these cases are happening only in the North. On 14 March, a minor daughter of a Hindu housemaid was abducted by one Akhtar Sheikh in Mumbai, but police refused to add his name in the FIR despite the girl’s mother naming him as a suspect repeatedly, arguing that it would become a “Hindu-Muslim” and “communal” matter. Police also did not add the POCSO Act despite the victim being a minor. The girl was finally recovered after four days, and revealed to the mother how Sheikh first kept her overnight in a dargah and then at a friend’s house for three days.
Incident after incident shows a clear pattern – there is a subterranean network of safe houses, mosques, dargahs, madrasas, maulvis, imams, court officials and the like who are quietly involved involved in this racket of converting underage or impressionable young non-Muslim girls to Islam. Muslim youth who lure these girls by hook or crook are looked upon favourably by most Muslims, as there is theological sanction in Islam for converting someone to the faith…it is a sure-shot way of getting Allah’s blessings, it is believed.
In Pakistan, this Islamic conversion mafia operates openly – powerful shrines (like the Sufi Dargah ‘Bharchoondi Sharif’), seminaries, clerics, and politicians take great pride in the abduction, forced conversion & marriage of young Hindu girls, some as young as 12.
And there are clear signs that this phenomenon is becoming mainstream on this side of the border too. Last year, when a 10-year old Hindu girl was imprisoned and raped for over a day in a Ghaziabad, UP madrasa, the victim was given a fictional name “Geeta”. Many Indian Muslims on social media were mocking the plight of the minor child with the hashtag #JusticeForGeetaBhabhi.
