Nikama higher secondary school at Ganganagar area in Cachar district of Assam witnessed tension after a Muslim boy student mis-behaved with a Hindu girl while class was going on.
As per Bengali-language daily Dainik Jugasankha, agitated locals gathered in front of the school at 10 am on 30 Aug to protest against this harassment. The Principal of the school locked the gate to prevent protesters from entering the school. Soon, more protestors gathered on the nearby Amraghat-Motinagar road & blocked it. After hearing the news, Kachudaram thana police rushed to the spot & managed to disperse the protestors after reasoning with them.

“Again and again such mischief happens in this school. Last Wednesday a Muslim boy forcefully tugged a ninth grader Hindu girl’s hand & captured a selfie” alleged Abhijit Dhar, a leader of Hindu human right advocacy organization “Hindu Samhati” Assam unit. He also warned that if the accused boy was not arrested promptly, an intense movement would be started.
Congress leader Romesh Gowala said “The Principal of this school has totally failed to control students.” Meanwhile, the Principal of the school said, “This is a minor incident.”
The victim girl has filed a case with Kachudaram thana against the accused Muslim boy. Police arrested the father of the accused as the culprit is on the run. “We are trying to arrest the culprit”, a policeman said.
