Angry women retaliate against the fake videos and misconduct by TMC: Sandeshkhali, WB

Amid the Lok Sabha elections in the state of West Bengal, the issue of exploitation of women in Sandeshkhali has made headlines again. Ruling party TMC leaders are spreading sting videos, claiming the Sandeshkhali issue is planned. But, local women who are victims have a different stance on the issue.

On 11 May, Saturday, local women retaliated against some local TMC leaders. TMC leaders Dilip Mallick and Papan Gain alias Pikai allegedly abducted a woman and tried to bribe her.  Angry women alleged that they tried to bribe the woman to make a statement against the BJP and call Sheikh Shahjahan innocent. But the local women refused to budge.

Women of Sandeshkhali unitedly reached the home of the accused TMC leaders and dragged them. The women beat them with sticks. Later, the police reached the spot and recovered them. Later at night, the police allegedly raided the homes of some of the BJP workers.

However, two videos regarding the Sandeshkhali agitation were doing rounds on different social media platforms. Besides, almost all Bengali electronic media have been repeatedly broadcasting those videos. The ruling party TMC leaders claim that the Sandeshkhali agitation is made of and planned by the BJP.
