RSS worker beheaded in Pinari Vijayan’s home district; CPM workers arrested

RSS worker Choorakad Biju was hacked to death, allegedly by CPI(M) activists, at Payyanur town in Kerala CM Pinari Vijayan’s home district Kannur on Friday, prompting the BJP to demand the imposition of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in the district.

Police said Biju and his friend Pandaravalappil Rajesh were travelling on a motorcycle when they were knocked down by an Innova car. A gang alighted from the car and hacked him on the neck. Based on a complaint filed by Rajesh, the police have registered a case against seven CPM workers.

Murdered RSS worker, Choorakad Biju

The deceased is an accused in the murder of CPM worker C V Dhanaraj who was killed last year. Biju’s was the eighth political murder to rock Kannur in a span of one year since CPM stormed to power after the 2016 Kerala assembly election. Apart from this, several dozen Hindu activists have been injured in attacks by CPM.

Biju’s killing drew a strong reaction from Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan, who said Kannur should be declared a “disturbed area” and AFSPA should be imposed in the district in view of the frequent attacks on the workers of the party and RSS. “Since the government has failed to curb the violence, AFSPA should be imposed in Kannur to maintain law-and-order,” he said, adding that a memorandum would be submitted to the governor in this regard.

“CPI(M) workers are unleashing violence against their political rivals and even the chief minister has failed to control them,” alleged Rajasekharan. The party called a hartal in Kannur district on Saturday.

The Kerala BJP chief also tweeted a video allegedly showing Biju’s death being celebrated by CPM –

Terming the killing unfortunate, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Biju’s murder was a “one-off incident” and that it would not affect the efforts to bring back peace in the district.

Here are some of the other recent incidents of CPM attacks on political opponents, mostly of RSS but also other organizations –

  • RMP workers Vishnu and Ganesh were brutally attacked by CPM workers at Onchiyam while they were sticking posters commemorating death of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) founder TP Chandrashekharan who was murdered by a CPM kill squad on 4 May 2012 – many CPM workers and leaders were convicted for that murder.
  • Santhosh, a BJP worker who was warned by CPM against campaigning in the CM’s home turf of Pinarai, Kannur district, was hacked to death in Dharmadam.
  • An SFI (students wing of CPM) leader in Dhanuvachapuram who left the party was attacked by iron rods.
  • BJP worker Remith, a 27 year-old driver in the Gulf who had returned on leave, was killed by suspected CPM cadre. His father Chavassery Utahman was killed in 2002, allegedly also by CPM goons.
  • 27 year old PV Sujith was hacked to death by CPI-M workers in front of his parents in Papinisseri, Kannur district Kerala.
  • 33 year old BJP worker Pramod was bludgeoned to death by CPM workers in Thrissur district of Kerala.

Why is the CPM wedded to the cult of violence?

This analysis of the political murders in West Bengal during CPI-M Rule—1977-2009, tells us –

“The Manifesto of the Communist Party (1848) ends with the following evocative sentences: “The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communist revolution.” Thus any Communist Party is wedded to the cult of violence to achieve its political objective.

In 1997, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, in a reply to an Assembly question, stated that between 1977 (when the Left Front came to power) and 1996, 28,000 political murders were committed.”

The root of this approval for violence in the name of ‘class struggle’ goes back to the founder of communism – Karl Marx, who incidentally reflected the Euro-centric, racist and Hinduphobic views about Bharat made popular by Chrstian missionary & colonial writers of his time. The article Marx’s philosophy and the *necessity* of violent politics tells us –

“Why Marx and Engels rejected achieving socialism by democratic and reformist methods. Why the insistence upon violent revolution?

Here’s Marx in an 1848 newspaper article: “there is only one way in which the murderous death agonies of the old society and the bloody birth throes of the new society can be shortened, simplified and concentrated, and that way is revolutionary terror.

….It follows that for Marxism the democratic process is a pointless sham. Democracy presupposes the effectiveness of reason — that individuals can observe, think, and judge for themselves, that they can learn from experience, be open to argument, and change their minds. Marxism, however, rules that out on epistemological principle: knowledge is conditioning, not rational judgment.

In final consequence, it follows that when differently-conditioned individuals meet, the conflict can be resolved only by force. Socialists cannot argue capitalists into socialism. They cannot objectively present reasons or appeal to reason. They can only take over by violence and remove their social enemies.”

It is a huge irony that CPM, which adheres to this foreign ideology of ‘revolutionary terror’ while trying to subvert Bharat’s democratic process from within, today maligns a nativist, democratic organization like RSS as ‘fascist’.

And our mainstream media laps up this travesty by portraying the red terror in Kerala as routine ‘political violence’ between two equally violent rival factions. No one has bothered to ask the obvious question – why does such violence take place only in Kerala and the other communist-infested state of West Bengal? Why, for eg., do we not see such violence in a Gujarat or MP as well where BJP/RSS and another political opponent i.e. Congress are locked in a bitter struggle?

Correction
