Riots in West Bengal in retaliation over Ram Navami processions

A state where Hindus were struggling to even celebrate their main festival of Durga Puja with full freedom, saw massive processions on the occasion of Ram Navami few days back. This apparently angered Islamists, who operate with full impunity in WB due to votebank politics of ruling TMC, so much that they resorted to attacking the Ram Navami celebrations in peripheral areas of Kolkata city.

The below video shared by Devdutt Maji, Vice President of Hindu Samhati, allegedly shows bombs being hurled from within Titagarh Bari Masjid, as police and RAF look on –

Speaking to telegraphreport.com, Majhi said, “Bombs were thrown from inside the mosque premises. Police and other security forces have been deployed. This is no minor event. Even before major weapons have been recovered from the mosques in Bengal. This time, however, they’ve started bombing Hindus.”

He rued lack of coverage of this incident in media, “Media has completely boycotted the incident. This is a big incident”. He questioned, “why no one is covering it?”

Stockpiling of weapons and use of mosques for attacking non-believers is on old Islamist tactic. Turkish President Erdogan had once recited an Islamic poem including the lines: “The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers…”

Here is another video shared from a ground activist on the Islamist attack from within Titagarh mosque –

Quoting from this report

“After series of over 150 spectacular rallies in different parts of West Bengal including in Muslim dominated areas on the eve of Ram Navmi, Bengal witnessed rioting today in several parts.

Trouble started breaking out in the peripheries of Kolkata in areas like Metiabruz, Khidderpore, Park Circus, Tiljala and in the outlying areas of Kolkata like Khardah and Barrackpore after Friday prayers of Muslims.

Eye witnesses claimed that majority of affected riot victims were prove from poor, marginalised and Dalit communities, who have been of-late sympathising with BJP.

These rallies were being projected  as a show of strength of the Sangh parivar as well as resurgence of Hindu pride in Bengal when youth in saffron clothing, wielding swords and chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, whizzed through the streets on their bikes on Wednesday as members of various outfits backed by the VHP, RSS and BJP took out massive rallies to celebrate Ram Navami.

The rallies had angered the administration, especially Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as many of TMC party workers also participated in these RSS backed rallies. While BJP said the processions were aimed at “strengthening and spreading their ideological foundations for Hindutva”, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) said the saffron party is attempting “to divide people on communal lines

Some hardline clerics of a community are believed to have given communal sermons and egged on their followers to disrupt Ram Navami celebrations. In many places, men tore down banners and saffron flags put up by Ram Navami celebration organisers, sparking retaliation by the other side which was already incensed over the slapping of non-bailable charges on state BJP President Dilip Ghosh for carrying a sword in a Ram Navami procession.

The state administration on one hand is denying any occurrence of riots in the state, and on the other is busy deploying RAF to prevent further clashes, a tactic employed even during the Dhulagarh and Maldah riots in Bengal.”.

There are unconfirmed reports of more violence and attack on Hindus from other parts as well –

This video shows a glimpse of the unprecedented Ram Navmi processions that have swept across West Bengal –

It appears the Hindus of West Bengal are finally waking up to reclaim the legacy of stalwarts like Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo and countless others.

  1. Hindus of Bengal unite before Mamata becomes another Suhrawardy. Throw out Mamata. No secular Govt can protect Hindus. WB will unite with Bangladesh if Hindus don’t act decisively now.
