Rage, on Demand

India Today released a highly damning expose of the Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir.  Posing as corporate agents who wanted to organize protests in Kashmir since the ruling party was “against their interests,” they got top separatist leadership (Hurriyat and JKLF) to spill their beans on sting camera.  The truth is absolutely stunning.  In one sentence, we can term the situation in Kashmir today as “on demand rage.”

Meaning this: for a certain amount of money (X dollars), you can get the entire valley to burn for a fixed amount of time (Y days).  The Hurriyat will do this for you, for the right price.  The current going rate is, roughly, Rs. 300 Crores for a six month period of total chaos in the state.   Note that chaos is the term that Naeem Khan uses.  What does chaos mean? Hurriyat Provincial President (Geelani faction) Naeem Khan provides us with specifics:

  • Large protest marches
  • All shops forced shut
  • All transport forced shut
  • Schools burnt (he admits to having 35 schools burned in the recent protests—no wondering all night now about who was burning those schools—it was the Hurriyat!)
  • Petrol bombs thrown at MLA’s homes and vehicles
  • Railway stations burnt
  • Other symbols of the state burnt (thankfully he says he won’t burn hospitals though, touching us all with his high standards of humanity)

The biggest client of this “pay per view, on demand” business of unrest in Kashmir is Pakistan.  The Hurriyat leaders admit on sting camera that roughly Rs. 300 crore has flowed in from Pakistan, using Hawala channels, to the Hurriyat and JKLF leadership to keep the current protests going.  Naeem Khan  informs us that “Pakistan had wanted to do something big like this for 3 years now.” This puts paid to the myth that there has been a “spontaneous” rage in Kashmir following the killing of Hizb terrorist Burhan Wani.

Much more is revealed once and for all. Geelani is in touch with Hafiz Saeed, and receives a significant sum of money from him (to the tune of Rs 30 Crores) to keep Kashmir boiling.  Perhaps we can call this a “special rate” for Geelani’s ole’ pal Hafiz.

Bitta Karate—of the “I kill Kashmiri Pandits for fun, stopped counting their murders after 24 were killed” fame then also reveals his rate.  Poor chap doesn’t quite make as much as the Hurriyat, only Rs. 70 crore for his services, which include all manner of “manufactured unrest” throughout the Valley of Kashmir.

I highly recommend (nay, request) readers to watch the exposes and the video clips for themselves. They can be seen here –

and here (this video is Part 1 of a series, and latter parts can be navigated to from it)

Correction

An earlier version had mistakenly stated Naeem Khan’s designation as Hurriyat regional chairman, the correct designation is Hurriyat Provincial President (Geelani Faction)

  1. Holy s*&t! What an expose by India Today! Wonderful investigative journalism. Thanks to HP for posting links so all of us can see what kind of mockery of a “movement” these guys are “orchestrating” (pun intended).

Absolutely stunning revelations! Minor nitpick: Naeem Khan is stated as regional Hurriyat President (not Chairman). Maybe HP can correct this little detail.

    • Wanted to check whether Pakistan’s largest English daily—Dawn (dawn.com)—carried this information, given that the expose is shocking, and crucially involves Pakistan. Not a word there. Not surprising given they blocked out the reportage of the video showing CRPF jawans being kicked and heckled in Kashmir, but the very next day had a cover story on the Kashmiri man tied to a jeep by the army to save itself from a lynch mob. No wonder the Pakistanis have such a skewed understanding of the Kashmir problem.
