AAP-leaning website ‘Janta Ka Reporter’ has interviewed British-Pakistani MP Khalid Mahmood on the Kathua gang rape. Mahmood lashed out at PM Modi for the crime and said Modi “shouldn’t be treated with respect” after this incident.

What is Khalid Mahmood’s background? He is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Birmingham Perry Barr since 2001. In May 2009, it was revealed, as part of a series of leaked UK MPs expense details that Mahmood claimed £1,350 to stay in a five-star west London hotel with his girlfriend. He also claimed more than £35,000 in expenses for food without receipts over the course of his eight years as an MP.

Mahmood is one of 12 British MPs of Pakistani descent, 5 of whom hail from PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir). The election of those 5 PoK-origin MPs – Khalid Mahmood, Raja Yasin, Barrister Imran, Rahman Chishti and Naz Shah – was welcomed by separatist leaders like Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who hoped their presence in the UK Parliament “would help raise the Kashmir dispute.”

And Mahmood has not disappointed his covert & overt Kashmiri terrorist supporters like Hurriyat, JKLF, LeT etc.  He has consistently advocated the Pakistani line on Kashmir in British Parliament. Before UK PM Theresa May’s 2016 trip to Bharat, Mahmood and other British-Pakistani MPs were part of a campaign to organize various meetings (attended by representatives from Jamaat-e-Islami & JKLF) to put pressure on the UK government to change its stance that Kashmir is strictly a matter for Bharat and Pakistan to resolve.

Mahmood and other British-Pakistani MPs have a core constituency of British-Pakistani voters in UK’s Midlands region, of which Birmingham is the largest city. This region has been in the thick of the sex grooming scandals that have shocked UK in the last decade – the latest such scandal was uncovered in Telford (a Midlands town) where it was found that over 1,000 girls had been abused over four decades – the Labour-run council in the town initially rejected an inquiry.

It is not clear if Khalid Mahmood has speaken out against these grooming gangs, a high proportion of which were found to be of British-Pakistani heritage in a study by Quillam Foundation. Mahmood and other British-Pakistani MPs are also silent over the brutal torture & persecution by Pakistani forces in the Shia-dominated Gligit-Baltistan region of PoK. They, of course, have no opinion on the routine abduction, forced conversion and ‘marriage’ of non-Muslim girls in Pakistan.

Is this interview by a pro-AAP website of a tainted and virulently anti-Bharat British MP, on our internal matter that is being handled as per the law of the land, an indication that a new front is being opened up in the ‘Shame India’ campaign that has been going on since May 2014?

With PM Modi scheduled to visit UK this month for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, this could be a sign of things to come. A report by Sunday Guardian titled ‘ISI planning stormy reception for Modi in UK’ suggests that all Pakistan-led Bharat-baiters are working overtime on this agenda.
