Police cases filed, shops vandalised for criticising Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Rahul Gandhi

It has been reported that on Tuesday morning Shiv Sainiks led by former MLA Vishwas Nandekar vandalised the shop of two citizens who had posted content criticizing the government. Shiv Sainiks were irked by a Facebook (FB) and WhatsApp (WA) post of the two which criticized CM Uddhav Thackeray, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) Chief Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The incident occurred in Yavatmal District’s Wani town and the MLA has been taken into custody. It is important to mention here that the incident occurred after a case had been registered against the two shop-owners over their social media posts.

Wani resident Satish Pimple and mobile shop owner Vivek Pandey had put up a post commenting on the leaders of the current Maharashtra government which went viral on both FB and WA. Shiv Sainiks were angered by this and the police took cognisance of it following which a case was booked against the two on Sunday night.

The Shiv Sainiks, however, not satisfied with such legal action and under the leadership of Nandekar first barged into Satish Pimple’s shop at Nandepera Marg and indulged in vandalism. They then marched to Pandey’s mobile shop and caused large scale damage to the property. These incidents led to a tense situation in the area and the police rushed to the spot as soon as they received information to bring the situation under control.

Maharashtra has the maximum number of Covid-19 cases and the state health infrastructure has literally collapsed and the situation is just going from bad to worse each passing day. The condition of even the financial capital Mumbai with a cash rich BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) is horrifying to say the least. At such a time, the State Government is busy gagging the voice of the common man instead of focussing its energy on controlling the pandemic situation in the state.

The 3 alliance partners in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government – Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP – are busy politicking, washing their hands off the whole matter and passing the buck to the centre, while left-liberal Lutyens’ media could hardly be bothered to ask any hard questions of the CM and his ministers.
