Refugees from Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (POJK) held a demonstration supporting CAA and NRC on Monday in Jammu city, reports PTI –
“A body representing the displaced people of Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (POJK) on Monday held a demonstration here in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Led by POJK Displaced Peoples’ Front chairman Capt (retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib, hundreds held the demonstration at Maheshpura chowk in Jammu city.
They alleged that some political parties are instigating people to trigger violent protests and create law and order situation across the country. They raised slogans in support of the CAA and the NRC and against those who are instigating violence and opposing it.
“We have come out in support of CAA and NRC. We hail the Government for such a move”, Chib told reporters here. He lashed out at those instigating people to carry out violence against the Act for their vested political interests.”
These displaced people, who migrated from West Pakistan & PoJK to Jammu & Kashmir during and after Partition in 1947, were still identified as ‘refugees’ and forced to live in camps till the time Modi Government abolished the discriminatory Article 35A. Under cover of Article 35A, successive J&K governments denied these Hindus ‘permanent resident’ status, thus depriving them of property rights, employment in state government, participation in Panchayat, municipalities and legislative assembly elections, admission to government-run technical education institutions, scholarships and other social benefits.
Now with abrogation of Article 35 and passage of CAA, these PoJK refugees can finally look forward to full citizenship and equal rights. It is estimated that 80% of these refugees are from the Scheduled Castes and they total around 3 lakh now.
Pakistani Hindu refugees living in squalid camps in Delhi, Jodhpur and other parts of the country too have come out to celebrate CAA which gives them a new lease of life after suffering unspeakable barbarity in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

After watching Islamist mobs, instigated and cheered by left-liberal elites spreading falsehoods about CAA and NRC, attack police & indulge in wanton destruction of public property over the last week, it is welcome to see the long-suffering people who will benefit from CAA & other right-thinking citizens come out and support the act.
