PFI stockpiling weapons in Kerala

It is learned that the Popular Front of India (PFI) is procuring and stocking lethal arms in bulk. Swords were seen stored inside an unused fridge at the house of a Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) activist’s brother’s house at Muttathara cotton field in Thiruvananthapuram.

This incident comes amid reports that the SDPI and the PFI are preparing for widespread riots in the state. The weapons were found in the old fridge of Ubaid’s house near the CSI mosque in Paruthikuzhi. Ubaid is the brother of an SDPI activist.

City corporations staff had visited the place to clean the house and its surroundings as part of dengue prevention activities. They opened the old fridge kept outside the house and were surprised to find the weapons. There were four swords and a knife inside the fridge.

They took a picture of the weapons on their mobile phones. Locals informed the Poonthura police after the picture was spread through social media. Police arrived for a search but by then someone hid the weapons.

When the weapons were not found, Ubaid shouted at the police and told them that someone might have planted them at his house. However, as part of a precautionary measure, the police took Ubaid into custody and later released him on bail.

Ubaid and his family had moved from Beemapally to Paruthikuzhi only recently. Beemapally has a notorious reputation and is also off-limits to police officers. The house where the weapons were seen is near the RSS branch.

Earlier, it was reported that weapons were being stockpiled in the homes of SDPI members and in their hideouts in places including Beemapally. But there was no significant investigation from the police in this regard. These weapons are also yet to be recovered.

The incident comes amid reports that the SDPI and the PFI are targeting state-level BJP and RSS activists. This incident comes just days after the murder of Sanjeet in Palakkad and Renjith Sreenivasan in Alappuzha. The locals say that the incident at Paruthikuzhi is not a coincidence.
