Parents Claim Fraud Behind Daughter’s ‘Conversion & Marriage’ to Kashmiri Muslim Man

Yet another suspicious case of a Hindu girl allegedly eloping and converting to marry a Muslim man has come to light from Barmer, Rajasthan.

Ritu Khandelwal (18) left her Barmer home to visit her sister’s house in Vadodara, Gujarat on March 16, but disappeared enroute.

“Chanda left home to go to her sister’s house on March 16. The last time she used her Rajasthan sim was at 12.17 am on March 17 to tell her sister that she would be reaching at 4.00 am. Her location was Sanchore. She then disappeared. Police have told us that she got off at Ahmedabad,” said Lait Daga, Chanda’s cousin to DNA.

The family lodged a missing complaint report on March 19. On March 22, Barmer police received documents of Ritu’s conversion to become Zeenab and of her marriage to Gulzar Ahmed Khan, a Kashmiri youth who was reportedly working in a Barmer coffee shop along with Ritu. Police also received an order passed by the Jammu and Kashmir high court on February 20 to provide security to the couple so that no harm is caused to them.

Family Has Evidence to Show Conversion Certificate and Nikahnama are Forged

But Ritu’s family claims that the nikahnama is forged as the girl was in Barmer on the day she is said to have got married. Similarly, the family claims that she was in Mumbai on the day she was supposedly converted, as per the documents sent by the girl from Kashmir. The family has the proof of both.

“As per documents her conversion took place on December 31, but we have photographs and video of her at New Year Party in Mumbai in her Bua’s flat. Documents say nikah took place on February 20, but she was in Barmer appearing for exams. We have her admit card where she is marked present,”added Daga.

A police team had gone to Kupwara right after the parents lodged their complaint, but it came back empty handed. According to CO Barmer Amar Singh Ratnu, “The girl had another number and we traced that to Delhi and Srinagar. Our team had gone but the J&K High Court order restrains us. We contacted the Kupwara SP for help to meet the girl and take statements, but they were not too keen to extend support. The team cannot move in unfamiliar unsafe terrain without that.”

“In view of the evidences provided by the family, we have sent one more police team. It is presently in Kashmir,” added Ratnu while speaking to DNA on 30 March.

As per sources that did not wish to named, “Kupwara is a terrorist affected area and it is not possible to trace her without police help. The accused Gulzar Khan’s brother is in Jammu and Kashmir police.”

The family is now planning to move court with their evidence to seek justice.

Pakistani Pattern Now Repeating in Bharat

There is clear prima facie evidence here to show that at the very least, the Kashmiri Muslim man has committed a crime by forging marriage & conversion certificates. Yet, despite this evidence the J&K police have refused to cooperate with Rajasthan police and failed to even produce the girl. It is not known why J&K High Court has failed to take suo motu cognizance of the evidence produced by the girl’s family. Anyway, J&K follows a different legal regime (Ranbir Penal Code) altogether thanks to Article 370, and hence Ritu’s parents will be left running from pillar to post to just see their daughter again.

We see a similar pattern in the illegal conversion and marriage of Hindu girls in Pakistan

  • girl disappears suddenly,
  • next thing her family hears is that she has converted to Islam and married some Muslim man of her ‘own free will’,
  • the required legal documents are conjured with connivance of willing maulvis and Islamic organizations,
  • courts & police refuse to intervene,
  • a few media outlets highlight the case but lose interest as something fresh comes up on the news cycle
  • no powerful NGO or political party takes up their cause,
  • parents are left to fight an uphill struggle through the legal quagmire,
  • girls who have been abducted/trapped are simply browbeaten to remain silent or just resign to their fate,
  • the girl usually vanishes without a trace after some time – the parents’ voice is drowned out and the whole matter is quietly buried…
  • until another incident happens and the cycle repeats.

Parts of UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, West Bengal, Kerala are indeed becoming another Pakistan – but its not the ‘Hindu Pakistan’ our secular-liberals keep screaming about.
