A Pakistani flag was hoisted atop a Hanuman mandir in Narsinghpur town in MP on 23 August with a message in Hindi scribbled on the temple wall “Ek din kar ke dikha denge, Hindu ko jad se mita denge – Fateh” (We will eliminate Hindus from the very root one day – Fateh).

The news has been reported in local Hindi media like Patrika and Amar Ujala. The flag was hoisted on Wednesday night by some unidentified people – when devotees came in the morning they were shocked to see the flag and threatening message.
Many Hindu organizations like VHP, Bajrang Dal protested in the city, urging police to arrest those responsible. Many shopkeepers downed their shutters seeing the build of communal tension.
Question for the English news media like Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Times of India etc. who were frothing at the mouth with ‘Christians under attack’ headlines when a few stray incidents of petty theft and fires due to short-circuit were reported from Delhi Churches in early 2015 – why is this incident not news worthy?
In an earlier article, we had tried to analyze the reasons behind the frequent desecration of Hindu temples in Bharat and outside – it does not require any great analytical skills to realize that Abrahamic (Islamist and Christian) intolerance for idol-worship is the prime motivator for this bigotry. And before we shrug off this particular incident of a Pak flag being hoisted as an isolated incident by ‘mischievous elements’ as even Hindi media is wont to do (it is notable that even Hindi media reports did not mention the threatening message on the temple wall), we should remember that growing Islamic radicalization has seen even temples in Himachal being defaced with ‘ISIS coming soon’ messages.
While our ‘national’ media prefers to ignore these hate crimes in line with their liberal-secular editorial policy of censoring crimes against Hinds to avoid so-called majoritarian polarization, the admin and police of our secular state are also happy to brush matters under the carpet since there is no strong Hindu voice which rises in protest over such crimes – the protest, if any, remains localized and Hindus do not take to the streets in the state/national capital. Maybe it is time to change that.
