After another major arrest of an IS operative, Subahani Haji Moideen from Tamil Nadu, investigation agencies have mentioned that he confessed going to Iraq last year to fight along IS. Quoting this news :
Moideen has also disclosed that he couldn’t bear the killings and violence and decided to quit the biggest terror organisation after which ISIS imprisoned him.
Along with many other foreign fighters there, who wanted to leave the terror outfit, Moideen was produced before an ISIS judge in Raqqa and “tortured” by ISIS and incarcerated.
After sometime, he somehow managed to leave the ISIS territory and flee to Istanbul, which agencies are trying to establish how he did that. From there, he came to India and stayed with his wife. However, lately he again got in touch with ISIS members and was presently planning to carry out attacks here for which he had even started collected explosive material.
Last year, security agencies had found that Abu Thahir, one of the 17 Indians suspected to have joined the IS, had also worked with Thejas in Palakkad for a short period before moving to the Gulf.
According to information, Safwan lived with his wife, two children and mother Kunhili at Ponmudam in Malappuram. Local people said he was active in SDPI, the political arm of PFI.
NIA sources said Manseed, 30, who hails from Panur, where the meeting was held, was known as the group’s leader. Manseed, who worked as an office assistant in Qatar, came home on leave on Friday and reportedly organised Sunday’s meeting.
The fifth person, Swalih Muhammed has been settled in Chennai for several years and worked with a private firm, said NIA sources. He hails from Chelakkara in Thrissur district, where residents said Swalih had left after Class XII and frequently visited his family in Kerala.
The sixth accused, Abu Basheer, is from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.”
‘A senior ATS officer, who has examined the chats between Naser and his handler, told, “The accused’s first attraction to the outfit seems to have come from his attraction for sex slaves. He would ask questions about these women, their age, their origin, looks and so on.
While scanning Naser’s online surfing history, the ATS has found that for hours together he would search online for sex slaves, their pictures and read about them and even watch videos available online.
If the ATS officers are to be believed, Naser’s wife was the first one to notice a change in his behaviour and gradually started objecting to his habit of sitting on his laptop for days together. As he did not pay heed to her objections, she brought the matter to her father-in law’s notice.
The sleuths maintained that the ISIS has changed the way terrorists operate+ , hire recruits and make them carry out terror activities across the globe. The IS online propaganda is so lethal and effective that even a rational and well educated persons thought process is likely to get corrupted after coming in touch with them, a sleuth said.’
Latest news reports on instructions by handlers on IS modules mention that these IS operatives are told not to risk gathering explosives, assembling IEDs or illegally buying automatic weapons for attacks. Instead, they are told to buy big chopping knives or machetes, which are less risky. These operatives are told to hack their targets and make gory videos.
About 60 people have been arrested in last 2 years under suspicion of them being IS operatives. Recently, a special court in New Delhi has extended the judicial custody of 16 suspected IS operatives till October 25, arrested from across the country on charges of recruiting and financing people to join IS.
