In a recent twist to the history regarding Moinuddin Chisti’s first marriage, the official website of Ajmer Sharif (his dargah) changed the website content after persistent exposures on social media.
As per the previous content on Ajmer Sharif’s official website, the words ‘… had captured a Raja’s daughter in an encounter who had embraced Islam and khwaja sahib, in response to the above reminder, married her giving her the Islamic name of Bibi Ummutulla‘ have been replaced by ‘… gave his sister Bibi Ummutulla to marry him’.
The last archive of the original comment is available for the date 19th March 2018. It seems that outrage on social media effected the change on Ajmer Sharif’s website, as the tweet that went viral regarding the bigoted content of converting a young captured Hindu daughter of a Hindu raja (king) got much attention, the tweet was also dated 19th March 2018 –
It is indeed a revelation that Ajmer Sharif would disown and change the history of its renowned saint Moinuddin Chisti based on just a social media outrage. Or is the organization embarrassed about making people more aware about the real history of its icon, since the Dargah has been popularized among Hindus too, especially by Bollywood celebrities. Goes on to say that probably Muslim organizations wish to hide the real history of Sufi icons so that they continue to represent religious tolerance and peace narrative.

It is obviously the extreme religious tolerance of Hindus that they go, visit and donate to Ajmer Sharif Dargah while the website is not even sure about, and seems to take no ownership of original history of Moinuddin Chisti, to peddle fake narrative of Sufi peace and religious tolerance, even after the infamous sex scandal by Ajmer Sharif Khadims where hundreds of Hindu minor girls were trapped, raped, filmed and blackmailed.
