Two priests and a caretaker of a temple in Haryana were murdered and 2 others critically injured in an attack late on Saturday night. It is reported that tongues of at least 3 victims had been chopped off and all 5 were tied down during the attack.
The incident occurred in Bhai-Behen temple complex which is part of the Sri Govind Dham Sant Ashram in Manglora, Karnal district of Haryana, very close to the UP border. The gruesome attack came to light when villagers went to the temple on Sunday morning and found the door locked but people moaning in pain from inside.
Priest Vinod Sharma (32) and sevadar (caretaker) Sultan Singh (60) were found dead, while Ravinder Sharma (51) died of his injuries on Monday as reported by Amar Ujala. One priest Ajay Sharma and the temple caretaker Sardar Harjinder Singh are still battling for life.
The temple complex is located just 500 metres from the Manglora police station. The temple was vandalized with its donation box broken, and liquor bottles and condoms were found in the gaushala (cow shelter) behind the temple.
Temple trustee Sunil Shastri said that Pandit Ajay Sharma, his brother-in-law Ajay, and uncle Ravinder had all come to the temple on 18 Aug to perform the Mahamrityunjay Path which lasts 7 days. All 5 men were asleep when around 15 men reportedly barged in late on Saturday night.
Karnal superintendent of police (SP) Surender Bhoria said the actual reason behind the incident and identity of the assailants can be ascertained after the statement of the injured is recorded. However, police has registered an FIR against Arun Kumar of Manglora who allegedly had a clash with sewadars of the temple a few days before the murderous attack.
This is the third incident of a murderous attack on temple priests/sadhus in just one week. On August 12, an elderly sadhu and a temple priest were murdered in Aligarh district of UP allegedly over a land dispute. Then on 15 August, three sadhus staying in the Bhayanaknath temple in Auraiya, UP were brutally attacked by a gang of cow smugglers – two sadhus had their tongues cut out and were slaughtered by slitting their throats, while one is in serious condition. 5 of the 14 accused in the Auraiya case have been arrested, and they admitted to killing the sadhus because the sadhus were opposing illegal cow slaughter activities.
The selectavists and liberal media had generated global outrage in 2015 over the manufactured #ChristiansUnderAttack narrative built on the back of some accidents, petty crimes affecting few churches in Delhi – but there is hardly a murmur from our elites as Hindu sadhus are being killed in the most brutal manner imaginable.
