Delhi, 26 April, 2026: A one day national seminar on “Reimagining Social Science Research: A Multidisciplinary Perspective” was organized on 25 April, 2026 at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi for fourth-year undergraduate students. The seminar aimed to develop a holistic understanding of complex social issues and strengthen students’ ability to address real-world challenges.
In the inaugural session, convenor Prof. Bishnu Mohan Dash highlighted that research plays a crucial role in social and national development. He stressed the importance of originality, scientific rigor, and quality, noting that research contributes to policy making and guides development. Shri Ganpati Teti Ji emphasized that curiosity is central to research, linking its roots in the concept of Rishi. He underlined that research should go beyond degrees and focus on societal welfare, while explaining key components such as objectives, methods, tools, and outcomes. Research papers from multiple disciplines including Psychology, Geography, Social Sciences, Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Journalism, Food Technology, Home Sciences and English were presented. Special guests Prof. Chandrashekhar Dubey and Prof. Narayan Prasad elaborated on the significance and scope of multidisciplinary research, emphasizing its roots in Indian knowledge systems and the importance of critical inquiry, data collection, and analysis. Dr. Swasti Alpana, Joint Dean of the Delhi University Research Council, awarded certificates to outstanding researchers. A compilation of research abstracts edited by Dr. Kumar Satyam and Dr. Tara Shankar was released. During the seminar, research papers were presented across different departments under the chairmanship of several faculty members including Prof. Shashi Rani, Prof. Rajesh Upadhyay, Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Meenu Verma, Dr. Narendra Bishnoi, Dr. Lalit Kumar, Prof. Trishna Sarkar, Prof. Rajbala, Prof. Ram Prakash Dwivedi, Prof. Monika Ahlawat, Prof. Atul Pratap Singh, Prof. Sunita Malik, Prof. Sumanjit, Prof. Malini Priya, Dr. Meenu Verma, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Lalit Kumar, Dr. Meetu Dash, Dr. Vidisha, Dr. Neha Sharma, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Arun Pratap Singh, Dr. Rajesh Vats, Dr. Vineet Kumar, Dr. Ranjit Kumar, Dr. Kumar Satyam, along with other faculty members and hundreds of students. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sarla Bhardwaj and was moderated by Prof. Dipali Jain.
