A minor Hindu girl who was missing from Faridabad has been recovered from a village in Punhana, Mewat region, Haryana after 40 days, Hindi daily Dainik Jagran has reported. Police has arrested prime accused Farzana, and two of her accomplices – Islam and Tahir – while 2 more accused are on the run.
According to police, the girl, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste (Dalit) community, is originally from Rajasthan and was staying in a rented accommodation in Faridabad along with her family. She went missing on 4 April and her father lodged a complaint.

The police got information that Farzana (wife of Zakir), a resident of Singar village in Nuh district (Mewat), had cajoled the minor girl to come to her village, where the girl was held captive. The girl was sold off to a villager Islam (s/o Rasoola) for Rs. 40,000. She was illegally converted to adopt the Muslim faith, force fed beef and made to offer Muslim prayers. An attempt to rape was also made on her.
A case was lodged against 5 accused, out of which 3 (Farzana, Islam and Tahir) were arrested on Sunday and produced in court on Monday, from where they were sent to jail. Two more accused – Farzana’s daughter Jannati and Zakir (s/o Firoza) – are on the run and police is confident of arresting them soon.
