A rape attempt on a minor by 29-year-old Aanuwarul Islam has taken place in Bengali Basti of Basistha in Guwahati, Assam on Tuesday, as reported by news outlet Time8.in
As per reports, the incident took place in the evening at around 6 pm when the 29-year-old accused took advantage of the situation when the 13-year-old minor girl was all alone in her house and attempted to rape her.
The accused, who is a married man, has been identified as Aanuwarul Islam aka Sahil, and he hails from Silchar.
While speaking to TIME8, Basistha Police Station OC Nabajit Das Baghri said that “the accused who came to the victim’s house yesterday evening tried to molest her since no one was there in the house. The victim was unable to raise an alarm considering her mouth was forcefully covered and the main door of the house has been already shut by the accused. However, the neighbors, seeing the door shut, suspected some misconduct. They immediately knocked at the door, and eventually caught the accused and immediately informed the police.”
Meanwhile, accused Aanuwarul Islam has already been arrested by the Basistha Police.
