Maridhas booked again! This time for exposing Tablighi jamaat

YouTuber Maridhas has been arrested again based on a complaint from Islamists against his video criticizing and exposing Tablighi jamaat. He had put out a video exposing the jamaat when they acted as super spreaders during the peak of the first wave of Covid-19. He is continuously being harassed by the DMK government which is opening old frivolous cases to frighten him and other critics.

Maridhas was earlier arrested for tweeting about DMK’s anti-Bharat activities and their friendly nature towards anti-Bharat forces. He had tweeted speculatively that anything can’t be ruled out in a state where there is freedom for people to gang up and conspire against the country, following CDS Bipin Rawat and 13 others deaths. DMK IT cell was waiting for an opportunity to pounce on him and filed a complaint against him based on the tweet calling it sedition.

However the FIR against him was quashed as the court felt everyone has the right to express their opinion when it comes to public matters like this. The judge also pointed out how DMK’s contention was more because “as a result of the offending tweet, there will be hatred and enmity between the DMK party men and separatists” as opposed to the sedition charges. He declared the charges against him invalid and quashed the case.

However he had been put on judicial custody till December 27 in another case of ‘forging an email id’. He had spearheaded a campaign against biased anti-Hindu journalists and editors of News 18 which led to the latter being dismissed from the media house. At that time Maridhas had claimed that the editor of the media house, Vinay Sarawagi, had sent him a mail accepting the allegations put forth by him.

However Sarawagi had denied sending such a mail and initiated legal action accusing the one put out by Maridhas of being a forged one. Even Maridhas had filed a complaint with the police seeking to find out who sent the forged mail. Police have still not found out the source of the mail and are allegedly intentionally dragging the case to make Maridhas suffer.

As if harassing him for such frivolous charges isn’t enough, the DMK government has forced the police department to pursue a case from last year filed during the ADMK rule. Last year Islamists had lodged a complaint against Maridhas when he had posted a video explaining how Tablighi jamaat members who went to the Delhi markaz event were the reason behind spiking cases in TN. At that time even the police department had filed many cases on the jamaatis for wilfully spreading the virus by gathering in large numbers and violating Covid-19 norms and regulations.

They were quashed by the courts which felt the religious gathering or the lifestyle of the jamaatis or how they refused to follow safety measures laid down by the government had nothing to do with the spread of the virus. The world knows what Maulana Saad Kandhlawi, organizer of Nizamuddin markaz said to the jamaatis. He brainwashed them into believing that Allah’s true believers should not fear Coronavirus and that the pandemic is just a conspiracy to keep Muslims away from congregating and practising Islam.

Even Saudi Arabia, an Islamic nation has banned Tablighi jamaat calling it as “one of the gates of terrorism”. But Maridhas is being harassed for what a majority of people felt and expressed in social media simply because he dared to speak up against the ruling DMK government which claims to be the torch bearer of social justice, free speech and equality.
