The Maharashtra Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has taken intolerance to the next level when policemen attacked students and workers of ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) who wanted to meet Dhule Guardian Minister Abdul Sattar. The disturbing news of the inhumane attack on students has drawn flak from various quarters.
As per reports, members of ABVP had attempted to stop the vehicle of Abdul Sattar to demand waiving off exam fees following the pandemic situation prevalent in the country. Instead of lending an ear to their concerns, the MVA unleashed policemen on peaceful protestors.

The video clearly shows men in civil clothes beating the students in the most inhumane manner. A purported policeman in green shirt can be seen punching a student.

ABVP has tweeted stating that the protesting students merely wanted the minister to listen to their grievances and reduce the academic fee by 30% besides refunding the exam fees as exams have not been conducted.
As per reports, the students had tried to meet Abdul Sattar to voice their demands. However, as the minister refused to meet them, the students attempted to block his car. It was then that the police unleashed violence on the students beating them black and blue.
Condemning the incident, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis called for stringent action against the high-handedness of the police while adding that had Abdul Sattar heard the grievances of the students then this situation wouldn’t have arisen.
Other leaders have also come forward to voice their dissent on this issue. LoP in the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) BJP’s Pravin Darekar while expressing his condemnation has stated that the incident amounts to murder of democracy and added that they would raise their voice against the MVA government on this issue.
He also said that lathi-charging the protesting students highly condemnable and BJP would take up the matter in the assembly session while adding that the party will always stand in support of the students.
Kandivali MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar has also registered his protest and said that till date the government had been harassing and arresting opponents like us by registering frivolous cases under the IT Act. Now they have gone a step further and unleashed policemen in civil uniform to beat students. He also said that power has gone to the heads of the Uddhav Thackeray led MVA government.
This government that keeps talking about so-called ‘youth leaders’ like Aditya Thackeray has time to listen to Azad Maidan riots accused Raza Academy and spend money on salaries for Madrassa teachers and luxury cars for ministers but neither has the time to listen to students’ grievances nor the inclination to solve their genuine problems.
Besides failing to control the downward spiralling economy and the worsening pandemic situation, the Uddhav Thackeray government has now hit a new low by lathi-charging students.

The vote bank politics of Uddhav Thackeray led MVA government is plumbing new depths day-by-day where on the one hand Islamist mobs are allowed to run amok and attack the police who do not retaliate against such criminals and on the other the police ‘shows its power’ against students who are peacefully protesting to get their voices heard.
