Lassi vendor Bharat Yadav lynched to death by over a dozen Muslims in Mathura, UP

In a shocking incident from Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi, Mathura, two Hindu brothers running a lassi shop were attacked with iron rods and other weapons by some Muslim customers who refused to pay after drinking lassi. The attack occurred on the night of 18th May, and one of the brothers, Bharat Yadav, succumbed to his injuries late on Saturday night 25th May, reports Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagran.

Police lethargy in arresting the prime accused was already agitating the Hindus of the city, and the anger boiled over on Sunday when news came of Bharat’s death.

Traders in Chowk Bazaar, where the Nattho Yadav lassi shop is located, downed their shutters and jammed the whole area in protest and demanded immediate arrest of all accused. A large police contingent has been deployed in the area to control the situation.

The two brothers, Bharat and Pankaj Yadav, ran the ‘Nattho Yadav Lassi Bhandar’ shop in Chowk Bazaar. On 18th May, 4 youth came to their shop to drink lassi and got into an argument when the brothers asked them to pay up. They went away, but returned an hour later along with over a dozen accomplices.

This gang of Muslim youth was armed to the teeth with iron rods, lathis, country pistols. They launched a vicious attack on the two brothers, while the police picket stationed at the junction and other shopkeepers looked on. Later, some people worked up the courage and challenged the attackers causing them to flee.

Amar Ujala reports that police got the injured brothers admitted into district hospital. On 19th, Pankaj lodged a complaint against Hanif, Shahrukh and 15-20 unidentified persons. Names of some other accused – Shajid, Faeem, Arshad, Suhail – soon emerged.

On 20th, Bharat was taken to Agra’s Rainbow Hospital after he complained of sharp pain in his head. On 22nd May, accused Faeem was arrested but was given bail by court. On 25th May, Bharat’s health again deteriorated so his family got him admitted in Agra’s Shri Ram Hospital, where he passed away.

Other markets in the city also shut down on Sunday to register their protest. Leaders of many different trade associations in the city, cutting across Hindu communities, took the police to task over the matter and demanded compensation for the victim’s family. They alleged that the perpetrators were roaming freely and threatening the victim family, and the Chowk Bazaar police had failed in providing safety to traders. Police had failed to arrest the prime accused, Hanif & Shahrukh, even a week after the incident.

SSP Satyarth Annirudh Pankaj said that Bharat’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and 4 different police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

Selective outrage & trivialising Hindu deaths

Immediately after the election results, there was news about Muslims being ‘lynched’ in Seoni, MP over ‘beef rumors.’ Videos of said attack immediately started doing the rounds and the whole incident was widely covered by ‘liberal’ media. If you google for “Seoni, MP” – you immediately see multiple news results –

But the lynching of a poor Hindu shopkeeper, failed to register with our ‘national’ media for a week after the attack. Even after Bharat Yadav’s death, this incident has not been picked up! Google “Mathura attack” and this is what you see –

Horrifying as Bharat Yadav’s death is, each Hindu needs to face some facts head-on and stop living with their head in the sand-

  • The brazen attack on the Yadav brothers took place in a BJP-ruled UP where the CM is Yogi Adityanath – an outright ‘Hindu fascist’ if you believe liberal commentators like Sadanand Dhume.
  • UP police has acquired a no-nonsense image in recent times. But the rot has set so deep due to decades of politicization, neglect and secular ‘training’ that police reflexively drag their feet when a Hindu is attacked by a member of the minority. Their instinct is to bury the matter, lest it gets ‘communalized’ (inviting the wrath of their political masters and courts), and they also fear (with valid reason) entering Muslim no-go areas to make any arrests.
  • Courts follow the lead of the influential liberal intelligentsia. So while the Muslim accused in this murderous assault case easily got bail, a Teesta Setalvad gets top-priority hearings from the Supreme Court when police wants to question her for fund embezzlement.
  • Media is firmly in the grip of Hindu-hating left-liberals. They will continue holding Hindus collectively responsible for any crime, real or imagined, against minorities; but will do everything in their power to trivialize, distort or ignore attacks against Hindus. A deluge of ‘Muslims are fearful’ articles have flooded the news market since Modi’s re-election, whereas the reality is anything but.

We might have scored a significant political victory in 2019, but we have a long way to go before we win the right to a dignified, peaceful existence in our homeland.
