The prime suspect and his 3 accomplices in the shocking gang rape and murder of a lady veterinarian doctor have been arrested by Telangana police.
The rapist pack has been identified as lorry driver Mohammed Pasha alias Arif (26), and cleaners Jollu Shiva (20), Jollu Naveen (20) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (20).
The four men hatched their conspiracy when they saw the vet parking her scooty at a toll plaza on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Wednesday evening. She took a shared cab from there to consult a doctor and returned around 9 PM. By then her scooty tyre had been deflated by the accused who were consuming liquor.
As per police, Mohammed offered to get the vehicle repaired and sent Jollu Shiva with it. During this period, the victim called her sister and narrated her ordeal and her fear of being alone at such a desolate spot. Shiva returned without fixing the bike and said the shop was closed. Minutes later, he again took the vehicle away. As she was waiting for the scooter, Arif, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu dragged her to a plot. Siva then returned with the vehicle and all of them repeatedly raped her.
Arif gagged her till she died. They kept the body in a lorry cabin to dispose it off later. The four bought petrol and also took out some diesel from their vehicle, poured it on the body and set it ablaze. A milk vendor saw the burning body on Thursday morning and informed nearby villagers who called the police. Police zeroed in on the accused with the help of CCTV footage and identified the lorry. The victim’s family identified her body based on a scarf and a Ganesha locket around the victim’s neck.
Shockingly, another dead body of a woman has been found in the same area on Friday, raising the question whether the gang were serial predators who had targeted other women too.
While the people of Hyderabad and indeed the entire nation are expressing their grief and shock over this gruesome crime, the usual sections of the secular-liberal establishment are up to their usual tricks to try and obfuscate the issue –
