The news coming out of Kerala these days is mostly negative. We keep reading about how the Communists are exploiting the temples and how radical political organizations like SDPI and PFI are spreading their tentacles. We also read about how the only political party that speaks up for Hindus repeatedly loses in every election, although there was a slight deviation in its electoral fortunes in the last general election.
Here’s some positive news that reminds us that all is not lost and that there are still many proud Sanatanis in Kerala who are resisting and fighting back.

A couple of days ago, it was reported that one of the most prominent temples in northern Kerala, the Mridangasaileswari Temple, was planning to host an Iftar on March 26. This was upsetting to many of us—not because non-Hindus were invited into the temple for a feast, but because a non-Hindu festival was going to be celebrated within the temple.
While most of us expressed our frustration online, a few dedicated Sanatanis from the Hindu Seva Kendram and the Bajrang Dal in Kerala approached the Kerala High Court against this Iftar feast. They were represented by Advocate Krishna Raj, a very vocal Hindu. The details of the hearing were shared by Advocate Krishna Raj on his social media page. Please see the link below.

There were six respondents in the petition, including the state government, the Malabar Devaswom, and the ‘Porkali Kalasha Committee,’ the temple committee in whose name the Iftar announcement was made.

The petition sought to restrain the respondents from conducting the Iftar and also requested a writ to prevent non-Hindus from entering the temple in accordance with the Hindu Places Worship Act (1965)

You will be amused to learn that during the hearing, the counsel for the temple’s executive officer informed the court that no permission had been granted to conduct any such feast. Additionally, the court was informed that the ‘Porkali Kalasha Committee,’ in whose name the announcement had been made, was only entrusted with the tasks of installing the flag mast and renovating the temple’s Sree Kovil (sanctum sanctorum).

Based on the hearing, the High Court ordered the Devaswom Board to ensure that the activities of the ‘Porkali Kalasha Committee’ are confined to the installation of the golden flag mast and the renovation of the sanctum sanctorum.
To cut a long story short, the Iftar feast planned by the Communists, which was supposed to take place at 6 PM on March 26, has now been cancelled.

Organizations like Hindu Seva Kendram in Kerala work on the ground, helping Hindus in distress. (Please see the link below to know more about their activities.)
Time and again, they draw flak from Kerala’s ‘secular’ society, as their activities are restricted to supporting only the Hindu community. Their leaders, such as Sri Pratheesh Vishwanath and Sreeraj.R, are constantly subjected to harassment by state law enforcement agencies. Sreeraj was released from police custody just a few days ago, after being in jail for several days, and that too for speaking out against an Islamist who had desecrated Tulsi (holy basil) in a separate incident in January.
Hindus will always be grateful for the efforts of the Hindu Seva Kendram and other organizations like the Bajrang Dal, who relentlessly work to protect the Hindu faith and traditions. Hinduism still exists and thrives in Kerala due to Sanatani warriors like them.
