Irfan traps Hindu girl as Rohan; forces conversion, breaks her backbone after 3 years of marriage

A brutal case of grooming jihad, commonly referred to as ‘Love Jihad’, has been reported from Agar, Madhya Pradesh. An FIR has been registered at the Susner Police Station of Agar in Malwa district of MP.

Around three years ago, a Hindu girl was lured into a relationship by a Muslim man named Irfan who introduced himself to the girl as Rohan. He convinced the Hindu girl to elope with him and married her as per Hindu rituals. But earlier this year, he forced the Hindu woman to marry him again as per Islamic rituals and perform a Nikkah ceremony with him.

After the Nikkah, the Hindu woman was given a Muslim name, Aalia. The woman has accused the husband and his kin of resorting to physical assaults on her to force her to convert to Islam. Now accompanied by Hindu organizations that have come to her support, she has approached the police and registered a formal complaint.

Narrating the episodes of torture that she has gone through in the past 3 years, the 24-year-old woman tells that she originally was a resident of Shujalpur. She was a college student at the time when Imran befriended her posing as a Hindu man. He also coaxed her into eloping with him, and convinced her to bring a sum of Rs. 2 lakh from her home. They got married some three years ago.

Irfan kept this money in his custody and the two started staying together. During this time, the woman birthed two children – her daughter is a 2-years-old toddler and her son is an 11-months-old baby. It was after three years of marriage and two children that Irfan organized a Nikkah ceremony with the victim and changed her name to Aalia B.

After the Nikkah, the couple moved to Susner with Irfan’s family.  Here, the Hindu woman renamed Alia was forced to embrace Islam and practice Islamic religious rituals by his Muslim husband and his family members. They used to thrash her regularly and for every minor reason. Irfan dragged her and thrashed her so brutally that the blow ruptured her backbone. She has been unable to stand straight after suffering that severe injury.

After she lost her ability to stand straight, Irfan precluded her from meeting everyone, lest she shared this incident with anyone. On August 19th, she somehow escaped the house and reached her parents and told them her whole story of suffering. After learning about their daughter’s miseries, her parents returned to Susner with her and with the support of relatives and Hindu organizations registered a complaint at the Susner Police Station.

The accused has been booked under Madhya Pradesh’s Freedom of Religion Act. Other sections of assault have also been levied and further investigations are underway.
