In yet another case of Love Jihad, a college going Hindu girl from Delhi was first lured into a relationship by a Muslim welder pretending to be Hindu. After eloping, the girl found out that the man is a Muslim and tried to return to her parents’ home. But she was kept confined for more than a month, raped and in an act of animal cruelty and extreme religious hatred, the Muslim man’s father burnt an Om (ॐ) tatoo on her arm with acid.

“In a case that turned out to be of ‘love jehad’ in the national Capital, a 21-year-old girl had to pay a heavy price for falling in love with a man from another community.

For close to one month, she was allegedly held hostage, raped and married against her will by the young man from another religion. Moreover, the boy’s father allegedly poured acid on her hand to remove the “Om tattoo,” said a senior police officer, who was part of the special staff team which rescued the girl from Meerut.

“Suman (name changed), pursuing graduation from a private college in Outer Delhi, lives with her family in Mangolpuri area. Ten months ago, she came in contact with one boy from Ambala. That boy gave a missed call to her and that was how their friendship started,” added the police officer.

“It all started 10 months ago when my daughter, who is pursuing graduation, received a call from an unknown number. Ek missed call ne sab khatam kar dia (one missed call finished everything). Over a period of time, she befriended that boy. That boy introduced himself as Sonu,” said the girl’s distraught father, requesting anonymity.

“Once he trapped her in his love, on November 29, Sonu asked my daughter to flee home and come to stay with him. He asked her to come to ISBT from where she boarded a bus for Meerut. Soon after, my daughter fled home on his request. Once she reached there, he took her to an unknown place and kept her locked in a room. On the pretext of marriage, he made forced physical relations with her. Fifteen days later, he revealed that his real name is Imran and not Sonu. Once my daughter got to know that he belongs to another religion, she wanted to leave him and returned home,” added the father of the girl.

The father further said, “But he kept her locked against her will, did nikaah with her in the presence of his family. After the nikaah, Imran’s father poured acid on Suman’s hand to erase ‘Om’ that was tattooed on her right hand.”

Held hostage for a month, the 21-year-old girl was safely rescued by a team of special staff of Outer district on Monday.

However, the burn injury on her hand tells the trauma she bore for a month. Confirming the incident, police on Wednesday said that the girl has been safely rescued.

Police said that as per the latest statement of the victim, the boy eventually claimed that his name is Imran.

“We are making efforts to trace the man who wrongfully held the girl, raped her and burnt her hand. A case under sections of kidnapping was registered at the Mangolpuri police station. We are verifying his name from the locals where he lived in Meerut. As per our enquiry, he started living in the Mawana area on rent a month back. The special staff team raided the accused person’s house in Meerut but he had fled by that time. Teams have also been sent to Ambala where the accused works as a welder,” said a police officer.”
