Chicken seller Kalam attacks police constable and inspector in Bahraich, UP

Amidst the lockdown news has emerged that a chicken meat seller Kalam attacked the police inspector and constable in Bahraich district’s Ramgaon with knives for stopping them from selling meat. Not only did the crowd manhandle the two but also tried snatching their revolver. When the SHO police force arrived, the attackers escaped from the scene. However, one of them was caught.

Police inspector Gaurav Singh and constable Vishal Jaiswal were returning after helping health workers admitting a corona patient in hospital when they stopped at Bhagwanpur Mafi village after seeing a crowd. They then found a meat seller selling chicken. When the police dispersed the crowd, the seller Kalam attacked inspector Gaurav Singh with a knife injuring him. In the ensuing scuffle three women and youth were injured along with the inspector and constable.

Upon receiving information about the incident, SHO Rajmani Shukla arrived with a heavy police force. Meanwhile, the attackers fled from the spot. Police have arrested attacker Bhagwanpur Mafi resident Abdul Kalam. The injured constable and the inspector have been given medical treatment.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Vipin Kumar Mishra has stated that a case has been registered under the sections like rioting, murderous attack, attempt to rob, obstruction in government work, lockdown violation, etc.

In another violation of the lockdown, 32 Muslims were caught offering namaz in Bahraich. They even attacked the police but have been arrested.
