Cattle smuggler’s family assaults raiding police team, injures 8 police personnel – Meerut, UP

A police team which had gone to raid & arrest a Muslim cattle smuggler was chased away and brutally assaulted by the smuggler’s family, including women relatives. Eight police personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO) and a woman constable, were badly wounded and their jeep was smashed in the attack.

This disturbing incident happened when a police team from Incholi police station had raided cattle smuggler Akram Bhati’s house in Sikhera village of Meerut, UP, following a complaint filed on 28 August against Bhati for stealing two buffaloes. There had also been several complaints against Akram for not returning borrowed money.

However, the police party was not aware that there was a wedding at Bhati’s home due to which a large number of relatives had gathered. The moment police tried to arrest Akram Bhati and his son, their family and relatives turned violent and started assaulting the police team, seriously injuring 8 police personnel. The police team was forced to leave the spot as they were heavily outnumbered.

After learning about this assault on the Incholi police team, more police force from other police stations rushed to the spot under SP (Rural) Avinash Kumar Pandey to control the situation. Police arrested 26 people, during late night, including Akram Bhati and his women relatives. But later they were handed over to the chairman. Cases have been filed against all the accused.

This incident again raises the questions – does law of the land exist for cattle smugglers who attack police forces with complete audacity? How deeply rooted is this nefarious network? And why are our elites hell bent on presenting these smugglers as innocent victims, and the villagers & police who are trying to resist them as blood-thirsty mobs?
