Cattle smugglers abduct & molest woman sleeping outside her house in Jaunpur, UP

Cattle smugglers abducted a woman sleeping outside her home late on Saturday night in Jaunpur city, UP, reports Dainik Jagran. When police gave chase, they dumped her on the outskirts of the city and fled.

The smugglers first stole a buffalo and calf from the home of Ganga Maurya located on Pratapgarh road at around 1.30 AM. They first tried to abduct another girl sleeping outside her home, but when she raised an alarm they grabbed her mobile and left. After 2 AM they reached Nai Bazar and abducted a 35-year-old woman sleeping just outside her home.

The family members of the victim immediately informed police. Seeing the police close in on them, the cattle smugglers dumped the woman near Satvan village and fled.

A case of sexual molestation has been lodged against the unidentified smugglers. Representatives of Hindu organizations like VHP reached the police station after hearing about the incident. The woman was sent to the district hospital for a medical check up.

Police has managed to find CCTV footage in which the smugglers’ pick-up truck can be seen, and are working to identify the accused. But the incident has raised questions on the effectiveness of the police picket positioned in Nai Bazaar area.
