KMC election: BJP candidate’s wife threatened with rape & murder by TMC

Suman Das, BJP candidate for Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections from Ward number 92, yesterday lodged a police complaint stating that his wife was threatened with rape & murder by TMC workers.

Rape, molestation and threat of sexual violence is a commonly-used tool employed by the ruling TMC regime to suppress Opposition voices. While such incidents have occurred frequently in the past too, the post-poll pogrom targeting BJP workers and supporters since May 2 saw 7000 women raped/molested as per a fact-finding team.

Some shocking cases like the gangrape of a woman in front of her grandchild, and the gang-rape of a minor Dalit girl followed by threats to her family, had made it to the SC but the majority of such victims were either turned away by WB Police when they tried to file FIRs, or stayed silent due to threat of further retributory violence by TMC goons.

Over 40000 (some reports say upto 1 lakh) Hindus were forced to flee their homes, some even seeking refuge in neighbouring states like Assam, to escape the violence unleashed by TMC goons and Islamists. Over 50 people are feared killed in this violence which still hasn’t fully ended. People are still struggling to return to their homes and businesses; in some places, TMC leaders are demanding money or sexual favours to allow families to return.

But these crimes by Mamata Banerjee have been completely swept under the carpet by MSM, and she is being projected as a potential PM candidate in the 2024 LS elections in many quarters.
