After Palghar, sadhus have been killed or attacked in UP, Mewat, Punjab

Two sadhus and their driver were lynched by a mob while the police remained mute spectators. The brutal murder of the three in Mumbai’s Palghar shook the nation. However, what is shocking is that this attack on Hindus in general and sadhus in particular has only increased after the Palghar lynching. Three such incidents have come to light and are a cause of concern which Hindus must definitely take note of.

In Haryana’s Mewat a mob attacked Muktidham Ashram’s Mahant Ramdas Maharaj. The mob not just misbehaved and beat him up but also threatened to kill him. The Mahant was returning after buying medicines when a few men made derogatory comments against Hindus stating that sadhus are troublemakers who should be driven away and if they don’t leave then they should be burnt. If the incident itself wasn’t bad enough, police not registering a case was worse. As per reports the police were trying to settle the issue between the two with talks instead of filing a report. Mewat is a Muslim dominated area where a Hindu resident was heckled by a mob for his social media post. This area is the centre of illegal Rohingyas, organised crime and cattle smuggling.

The second incident occurred in Pagona village in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh where two sadhus, Sadhu Jagandas and Sadhu Sher Singh, were found murdered inside the Shiva temple. Although further investigation is underway, as per information the two were murdered by a sword wielding druggist. Bulandshahr SSP Santosh Singh stated that the arrested accused had been scolded for stealing by the sadhus. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken stock of the situation.

The third incident took place in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur where assailants assaulted Swami Pushpendra Swaroop when he was alone in his ashram. Swami has sustained severe injuries as the attackers used sharp weapons. Punjab police had issued a statement linking the assault to robbery.

Despite these attacks and murders of Hindu sadhus and constant harassment of ordinary Hindus over simple social media posts, neither the society at large nor local or international media seemed to be bothered by the murder of Hindus in Bharat. These murders simply pass off as numbers as common Hindus too never rise to occasion in condemning such blatant anti-Hindu activities. A simple case of dispute where the victim happens to be a minority is twisted around and given communal colour. When church windows are broken by children playing cricket, local and international media turn it into an environment of ‘intolerance against minorities’ in Bharat.

The upper class Hindu society is also at fault to some extent because most are only concerned with themselves and their immediate family. They are also so much in awe of western culture that they have forgotten their roots and Bharatiya culture. This de-Hinduisation has made Hindus numb to such crimes so much so that such crimes don’t even seem to elicit any sorry or pain from society in general and Hindus in particular.
