49 year old pastor abducts tribal girl from a hamlet in Tiruvannamalai

A tribal girl has been abducted by a pastor from a tribal hamlet in the Jawadhu hills located in Tiruvannamalai. Jayaraj, a 49-year-old pastor, resident of Madha Kovil Street (Mary is called Madha generally) Polur, Trichy, has been camping in Perungattur, a tribal hamlet in the Jawadhu hills of TN. He is alleged to have indulged in preaching and evangelism in the village for four years in the garb of a social worker.

As schools have been shut down due to the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19, children are left to spend the whole day at their homes. Pastor Jayaraj took advantage of this situation and proposed that he would like to teach the children at his house.

It appears that the parents agreed to this arrangement and sent their children to his house. He is said to have misbehaved with the girls who visited his home and this came to the notice of the public. They warned the pastor of dire consequences and stopped sending their children to his house for tuition.

Unfortunately on 24th October, a 13-year-old girl went missing and her parents have accused the pastor of abducting her. The girl’s father filed a complaint with the local police a day later. However, the girl has still not been found. Local police lament that the pastor doesn’t use a mobile phone which makes it difficult to trace his whereabouts. They have been in search of the pastor and the abducted girl for more than 3 weeks with no visible outcome.

On receiving information that the pastor was hiding at Velankanni, police took the father along with them to catch him. But he couldn’t be found there. Disappointed with the inefficiency of the local police the girl’s father went to the Superintendent of Police, Tiruvannamalai to plead with him to bring his daughter back.  He has begged the SP to do the needful to find his daughter as soon as possible saying, “I don’t know what condition my daughter is in. I’m afraid. Please help find my daughter immediately.”

Police, on investigating the pastor’s background have come to know that he was married twice but both the wives left him. They have slapped a case of kidnapping on the pastor and the search for Jayaraj is ongoing.
