MP Police has registered a case against 3 Muslim men in Dhar, MP in a case of illegal confinement & sexual assault, where the victim Hindu girl was rescued by men of Hindu outfits, Hindi daily Nai Dunia and others have reported. The girl was being held in the basement of a Court Road situated building which is reportedly owned by the president of the state Congress’ minority wing, Mujeeb Qureshi.
The case was registered by the police at 11:45 pm on 6th June. All the three accused were sent to jail after they were produced before the court on the following Thursday.
The victim said in her statement that she was returning from coaching classes at 7 pm in the evening and went inside the Union Bank ATM to withdraw money, when the three accused, Mohsin Qureshi, Adnan and Atif Qureshi forcibly held her hand and pulled her to the basement of the building. One of the accused is said to be the nephew of Congress leader Mujeeb Qureshi. The victim said that the three accused locked the shutter of the basement and molested her. When she cried for help, some people arrived and rescued her.
The police took the victim and the three accused to the police station at 9 pm. After filing the report, the police took her to the city hospital for medical examination.
The accused and the victim were taken to the police station under strict security. An agitated crowd gathered at the police station and heavy police had to be deployed to control the situation. A case under IPC Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) has been lodged against the 3 accused who are now under arrest.
Incidentally, Congress leader Mujeeb Qureshi and his son Kamran were booked in Dec 2015 for shouting anti-national slogans during a procession over the Bhojshala issue.
